A widespread festival in the heart of the Agro Falisco
Amerina BioFest is promoted by the Via Amerina and Forre Bio-District Foundation (ETS), which unites fourteen municipalities of the Viterbo Tuscia region around the themes of organic agriculture, biodiversity, landscape, and sustainability. With Fabrica di Roma as its central hub, the festival unfolds across the ancient route of the Via Amerina and the evocative system of forre—the deep gorges carved into the tuff rock that define this corner of the Viterbo province in Lazio.
A territory to rediscover
The Via Amerina and Forre Bio-District encompasses the towns of Calcata, Faleria, Castel Sant'Elia, Nepi, Civita Castellana, Fabrica di Roma, Corchiano, Gallese, Vasanello, Orte, Canepina, Vallerano, Vignanello, and Mazzano Romano. It is a mosaic of historic villages, Etruscan and Faliscan underground cities, organic farms, and ancient rural traditions. Amerina BioFest was created to share this wealth through a blend of culture, food and wine, nature, and community.
Flavors and produce of the Bio-District
The festival showcases the region's excellence through guided tastings, tasting stalls, and show cooking events. The stars of the show include Agro Falisco wines, aged pecorino and caciocavallo cheeses, organic extra virgin olive oil, honey, and, above all, the hazelnut, the area's symbolic crop. Visitors can also meet chefs and producers at events like the show cooking sessions dedicated to hazelnut-based snacks or traditional mesatoli pasta dishes.
Nature, culture, and community
Beyond the table, Amerina BioFest offers guided hikes and trekking through the gorges and along the Via Amerina, visits to noble palaces and historic gardens, educational workshops for children, artisan ceramic and glass workshops, and conferences on agroecology and ecological transition. The program is rounded out by concerts, folk dances, and street music. The festival also highlights the region's environmental commitment, from renewable energy communities to campaigns for landscape protection.
A free-entry event
The first edition, scheduled from May 14 to 17, 2026, in Fabrica di Roma and other Bio-District towns, is free to attend. Many activities, including tastings, workshops, and open farm visits, require prior booking. Amerina BioFest aims to bring together visitors, producers, and local communities for a shared reflection on the future of agriculture and the lands of Tuscia.

The first edition of Amerina BioFest
From May 14 to 17, 2026, the historic center of Fabrica di Roma and the towns of the Via Amerina and Forre Bio-District hosted the first edition of Amerina BioFest, a widespread festival dedicated to organic agriculture, landscape, culture, and community. The program alternated between social gatherings, meetings, hikes, and tastings, with Fabrica di Roma serving as the narrative heart of the event.
Highlights included guided tastings of Agro Falisco wines, aged pecorino and caciocavallo cheeses, organic extra virgin olive oil, and hazelnuts, alongside show cooking sessions with Slow Food chef Vittoria Tassoni and master chocolatier Monia Achille. The event also featured conferences on agroecological transition and the ceramics district, children's workshops, visits to historic palaces and the Palazzo Cencelli Gardens, and the walk from Corchiano to Fabrica di Roma with the Carovana Stralunata.

Friday, May 15
- Hike along the Via Amerina and inauguration of the CER Amerina Forre photovoltaic plant in Nepi
- 5:00 PM - Conference "Caring for the Territory and agroecological transition" and presentation of the Bio-District book, with Barbara Nappini (Slow Food National)
- 7:30 PM - Bio-District products buffet and concert
Saturday, May 16
- Open farms with visits and lunch (Gallese, Nepi, Orte), artisan ceramic and glass workshops in Civita Castellana

Location
The festival takes place in the historic center of Fabrica di Roma (VT), the central hub, and is spread across the other municipalities of the Via Amerina and Forre Bio-District in the province of Viterbo (Lazio).
How to reach us
By car: from Rome (50-60 km) via SS2 bis Cassia Veientana and SP1 Cassia Cimina; from Viterbo (25 km) via SP1 Cassia Cimina; from the Orte exit of the A1 motorway (25-30 km). By train: Rome-Viterbo railway line. By bus: Cotral lines from Rome (Saxa Rubra) and Viterbo.
