The uphill speed car race along the curves of the SS 118
The Alessandria della Rocca City Slalom is an uphill speed car competition held in the municipality of Alessandria della Rocca, in the province of Agrigento, in the heart of Sicily. The race takes place on a stretch of the SS 118 Corleonese-Agrigentina, which is closed to traffic for the occasion and transformed into a technical 2,750-meter track, marked by curves, hairpin bends, and cones to be navigated in the shortest time possible.
Automotive slalom is one of the most widespread and beloved specialties in Sicilian motorsport: an accessible format that allows both novice and expert drivers to compete on the same course, with cars ranging from small tuned touring cars to single-seaters and racing prototypes. In Alessandria della Rocca, the race returned in 2021 after several years of absence, bringing the roar of engines back to the roads of the Agrigento hinterland and quickly establishing itself as a staple of the summer calendar.
The event, organized by the Muxaro Corse team, is not just a sporting competition but also a celebration for the community: enthusiasts, families, and curious onlookers gather along the course and in the paddock areas, while the hillside village of Alessandria della Rocca comes alive during the race days. The edition is part of the town's summer calendar and has previously been held in conjunction with other local August events.
Recent editions have seen dozens of drivers from all over Sicily at the starting line, with teams like Ro Racing and Island Motorsport vying for the top spots. The competition rewards driving skills and car setup on a demanding road surface, where precision counts as much as raw speed.
The event takes place in Alessandria della Rocca (province of Agrigento, Sicily) in August, traditionally over a weekend, with practice runs and official heats concentrated on race day. The track on the SS 118 offers spectators numerous vantage points from which to follow the cars in action along the curves of the state road.
The 6th edition of the Alessandria della Rocca City Slalom is scheduled for Sunday, August 23, 2026, under the organization of the Muxaro Corse team. The race will return to the SS 118 Corleonese-Agrigentina track in the municipality of Alessandria della Rocca (province of Agrigento). At the moment, the schedule, registration procedures, and list of competitors have not yet been published: details will be released by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event.
Alessandria della Rocca can be reached by car via the SS 118 Corleonese-Agrigentina; the nearest airport is Palermo, while Agrigento is the main provincial reference point.
Admission for the public is generally free along the permitted areas of the course. During the event, the affected stretch of road is closed to traffic: it is recommended to follow the signage and the organizers' instructions for alternative routes.
Bring sun protection and water: the race takes place in the height of summer. Always respect the areas reserved for the public and the instructions of the security staff.
