Contemporary music among the historic villages of Valchiavenna
The Ala Bianca Festival is a review dedicated to contemporary music that takes place in the historic villages of Piuro, a municipality in Valchiavenna in the province of Sondrio. The festival offers a journey made of new musical languages put into dialogue with the landscape and architecture of the area.
The curatorial idea, entrusted to Natalia Rogantini, is to bring musical research and places together: the ancient streets, the village squares, and the valley's mountain setting become an integral part of the listening experience, in a balance between contemporaneity and memory.
Ala Bianca is one of the souls of the "Piuro 2026" programme, supported by the Ministry of Culture, the Lombardy Region, the Province of Sondrio, and the Mountain Community of Valchiavenna. A project that intertwines history, art, and music to enhance the identity of Piuro, a village also linked to the memory of the 1618 landslide.
Ala Bianca 2026 animates the historic villages of Piuro from August 28 to 30 with a programme of contemporary music that offers new sound languages in dialogue with the Valchiavenna landscape. The review, curated by Natalia Rogantini, is part of the "Piuro 2026" programme, which intertwines history, art, and music with the support of national and regional institutions.
The detailed programme with individual events is published as part of the "Piuro 2026" programme.
