The spring agricultural fair celebrating the farming soul of Cigliano
In the heart of the rice-growing plains between Turin and Vercelli, Cigliano dedicates four days every spring to its deepest identity: its agricultural heritage. Agricigliano - Spring Flavours is not just a simple fair, but a true exhibition that weaves together markets, tradition, gastronomy, and entertainment, bringing the ancient relationship between man and land back to the centre of the town. Carefully organised by the Pro Loco Ciglianese, the event attracts a large audience every year, eager to rediscover local traditions and experience moments of authentic conviviality.
The highlight is the grand market day that takes over Corso Umberto I: dozens of stalls dedicated to agriculture, crafts, food and wine, hobbies, and trade enliven the centre of Cigliano. The symbolic heart of the festival is the tractor parade: vintage agricultural vehicles and pedal tractors gather in Piazza Don Evasio Ferraris and parade together to Piazza Varese, where the traditional blessing takes place. Exhibitions of historic tractors and agricultural machinery complete a journey that combines rural memory with curiosity for modern field-work technologies.
Alongside the market, Agricigliano offers a rich entertainment programme: games for everyone, activities designed for children with tractors, a traditional farmers' lunch, and musical performances that accompany the days. Recent editions have featured groups such as the Country Band, while the young members of the "i Ciuchè" group have entertained the public with songs and dances aboard the festival's characteristic float. The gastronomic setting highlights the typical products of the Vercelli and Piedmont regions, from the specialities of the rice plains to the flavours of the peasant tradition.
Included in the calendar of events of the Province of Vercelli and the Piedmont region, Agricigliano has established itself as one of the most cherished spring appointments in the Vercelli area. The event involves the entire community of Cigliano and numerous local associations, from the Alpini to local clubs, in a festival that combines the promotion of agriculture with the joy of being together. For those visiting Piedmont between late April and early May, it is the ideal opportunity to discover an authentic slice of rural life.
The 2026 edition of Agricigliano - Spring Flavours transformed Cigliano into a stage of colours, sounds, and flavours that celebrated the agricultural soul of the territory. The event, organised by the Pro Loco Ciglianese, saw a large public turnout and concluded with an enthusiastic outcome. Guests of the day included the President of the Province of Vercelli, Davide Gilardino.
Agricigliano takes place between the end of April and the first few days of May, with the main market and parade day concentrated on the weekend. The main day generally runs from the early morning until the evening.
