About Agorà Party

Every July, on the eve of the solemn celebrations for the Madonna del Carmine, Piazza Luigi Palomba and the alleys of the central district of Torre del Greco transform into a large open-air agora. The Agorà Party 2.0 - Mmiezo 'a Torre is a neighborhood festival organized by the Gruppo Incappucciati di Maria Santissima Addolorata: artisan stalls, live music and DJ sets, karaoke, games for children, and a festival dedicated to pasta and beans with mussels. Two days of popular conviviality with free admission, in the heart of the city of coral.

A neighborhood festival in the heart of Torre del Greco

The Agorà Party 2.0, also known by the dialectal name Mmiezo 'a Torre, is the secular festival that every July kicks off the week of celebrations dedicated to the Madonna del Carmine, patron saint of the central district of Torre del Greco, in the Metropolitan City of Naples, Campania. For two days, Piazza Luigi Palomba and the alleys surrounding the Santa Maria del Carmine parish become an open-air living room: food stands, craft stalls, live music, games, and workshops bring the neighborhood residents and visitors from nearby Vesuvian towns out into the streets.

From parish appointment to neighborhood celebration

The event is conceived and organized by the Gruppo Incappucciati di Maria Santissima Addolorata, with the support of the Santa Maria del Carmine parish and local businesses. Born as a one-day initiative, in 2026 it reached its third consecutive edition and for the first time doubled its duration, occupying the entire weekend: hence the "2.0" in the name. The underlying idea is simple and as ancient as the Greek word that gives the festival its title: to restore to the square and the churchyard their function as a meeting place, where the neighborhood recognizes itself and tells its story.

Music, crafts, and popular flavors

The program mixes genres and generations, with a special focus on the most genuine forms of Campanian popular culture. Among the festival's staples:

  • Food stands featuring the pasta and beans with mussels festival, a signature dish of Neapolitan seafood cuisine, along with snacks, desserts, and drinks;
  • Hobbyist and artisan markets, curated by local associations such as "Un filo che ci lega" and Turris United;
  • Live music and DJ sets: vinyl selections, itinerant percussion in the alleys, singer-songwriters with guitars, and the unmissable square karaoke;
  • Activities for children and families: baby dance on the church steps, traditional games, and creative workshops;
  • Art and culture: tattoo and street art expos, book presentations by local authors, a gazebo dedicated to role-playing games, and street soccer tournaments.

The bond with the Madonna del Carmine feast

The Agorà Party is not an isolated event: it is the popular prelude to the patronal feast of the Madonna del Carmine, which is celebrated in the district every year with a novena of prayer, culminating on July 16th with the solemn Eucharistic celebration on the churchyard and the procession through the streets of the district. The secular and devotional dimensions thus coexist just a few days apart, as happens in most festivals in Southern Italy: first the square that dances and eats together, then the recollection and the religious pageant.

Torre del Greco, between Vesuvius and the sea

The third largest municipality in Campania by population, Torre del Greco stretches between the slopes of Vesuvius and the Gulf of Naples, within the Vesuvius National Park. It is known worldwide as the capital of coral and cameos, an art handed down by generations of master engravers, and boasts a dense calendar of events, dominated by the famous Festa dei Quattro Altari. Those arriving for the Agorà Party will find the seafront, the Vesuvian villas of the Golden Mile, and the trails leading up to the crater within easy reach.

Why it's worth visiting

It is not a massive event for thousands of spectators: it is an authentic, free street festival built by residents for residents, where you can eat well for little money and listen to music while sitting on the steps of a church. For those who want to understand how the social life of a Vesuvian neighborhood really works in summer, it is one of the most sincere appointments of the Torre del Greco July.

Agorà Party — edition 2026

Third edition of the Agorà Party and the first time over two days: on Saturday, July 11 and Sunday, July 12, 2026, Piazza Luigi Palomba and the alleys of the Carmine district in Torre del Greco hosted markets, food stands with the pasta and beans with mussels festival, live music, karaoke, baby dance, and role-playing games. A weekend of popular celebration with free admission, organized by the Gruppo Incappucciati di Maria Santissima Addolorata as a prelude to the celebrations for the Madonna del Carmine.

Agorà Party 2.0: the festival doubles

In 2026, the Agorà Party stepped up: after two editions concentrated in a single evening, the Gruppo Incappucciati di Maria Santissima Addolorata extended the event to the entire weekend of July 11 and 12, adding the "2.0" label to the name. Piazza Luigi Palomba, the churchyard of the Santa Maria del Carmine parish, and the surrounding streets were closed to traffic and transformed into a single festive space.

The formula remained the same as the original, but expanded: hobbyist and artisan stalls curated by the "Un filo che ci lega" association and Turris United, neighborhood food stands, musical moments that followed one another from late afternoon until night, and activities designed for children. All this just a few days before the solemnity of the Madonna del Carmine, celebrated on July 16th with the procession through the streets of the district.

The two days

On Saturday, the party started at 5:00 PM with the tattoo and art exhibition by Tribe Skin Tattoo, continuing with the opening of the stalls, Jamaican music vinyl selections, baby dance on the church steps, the pasta and beans with mussels festival, a concert with Maurizio Giobbe on guitar, karaoke, and a street soccer tournament in the alleys. On Sunday, markets, stands, and baby dance returned, joined by a gazebo dedicated to tabletop role-playing games, the presentation of Carlo Boccia's book, and, in closing, live percussion and the "from the alleys to the churchyard" itinerant DJ set.

  • Those who want to experience the devotional part can stay until July 16th, the day of the solemnity of the Madonna del Carmine, with the evening procession.
  • For overnight stays, the widest range of options is between Torre del Greco, Ercolano, and Naples, all connected by the Circumvesuviana.
