A fantasy day at Agazzano Castle, in the world of The Lord of the Rings
Agazzano Fantasy Day is the event that, for an entire day, transforms the Anguissola Scotti Gonzaga Castle in Agazzano, in the heart of the Luretta Valley in the province of Piacenza, into a corner of Middle-earth. Dedicated to the world of The Lord of the Rings and fantasy in general, the event attracts enthusiasts, families, and cosplayers from all over Emilia-Romagna and neighboring regions, drawn by the medieval manor setting and the attention to detail in the reconstruction.
The program features over fifty artists and more than one hundred costumed characters who bring the castle and village spaces to life. Among the most popular settings are the hobbit village, the camps of the Rohan Knights, and those of the Orcs, with scenic battles and a spectacular final battle that also involves the younger ones.
Along the route, there are over a hundred stalls dedicated to medieval crafts, goldsmithing, fantasy and steampunk clothing, Tolkien merchandise, and themed food and drinks. The evocative "Elven Coin" is used within the event, contributing to the visitor's immersion in the atmosphere.
Fantasy Day has a strong family focus: the entrance ticket includes, for all children aged 6 to 12, dressing up in full costumes and being equipped with bows, swords, and shields, so they can become protagonists of the adventure. Themed makeup, dances, and the hobbit village complete an offering designed for the little ones.
The event has its roots in a long experience in the fantasy world: after historical editions linked to other castles in Northern Italy, the event has found its home in the Municipality of Agazzano, in Emilia-Romagna, where it continues year after year, attracting thousands of visitors. Organized by the Excalibur Association along with other entities in the sector, it is today one of the most recognizable fantasy events in the Piacenza area.
The 2026 edition, the fifteenth, of Agazzano Fantasy Day was held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM at the Anguissola Scotti Gonzaga Castle in Agazzano, with The Lord of the Rings as its theme.
The program featured the most beloved settings: hobbit village, Rohan Knights and Orc camps, scenic battles for Middle-earth, elven music and dances, birds of prey demonstrations, stilt walkers, and fire eaters. Over one hundred stalls offered crafts, Tolkien merchandise, and themed gastronomy, using the "Elven Coin."
