The F2 Powerboat World Championship in the inner harbor of Brindisi
The Adriatic Cup is the most prestigious sporting event on the Adriatic dedicated to powerboat racing. Every year, the inner harbor of Brindisi, in Puglia, transforms into a true "marine stadium": the stretch of water enclosed by the Lungomare Regina Margherita becomes a natural circuit where the fastest speedboats on the international scene compete. The city, overlooking the Pigonati canal and the old town, provides a unique backdrop where the public can watch the races just a few meters from the boats.
The heart of the event is the UIM Formula 2 World Championship: lightweight outboard catamarans capable of exceeding 150-160 km/h, piloted by some of the world's best drivers. Alongside the F2, the GT30 Class Italian Grand Prix takes place, featuring V-hull monohulls reaching 90-100 km/h, which counts towards the Italian Championship. The Brindisi stage has been a staple of the world calendar for years, positioned between the races held in Lithuania and the final in Portugal.
The event spans three days: Friday is dedicated to opening the pit area and technical/administrative checks, Saturday to free practice and qualifying, while Sunday features the highlight with the races and the Italian Grand Prix in the evening, followed by the awards ceremony on the waterfront. The races are accompanied by a rich program of events that involves the entire city and celebrates Brindisi's deep bond with the sea.
Organized by the Circolo Nautico Porta d'Oriente in collaboration with the Italian Powerboat Federation, the UIM, the Port Authority, the Harbor Office, and the Municipality of Brindisi, the Adriatic Cup has become a major driver for tourism and sports promotion across the Puglia region. Admission is free: families, enthusiasts, and curious onlookers can follow the races directly from the Lungomare Regina Margherita, amidst the roar of engines and the spectacle of wakes on the water.
From June 26 to 28, 2026, the inner harbor of Brindisi hosted the thirteenth edition of the Adriatic Cup, valid as the second stage of the Formula 2 UIM Powerboat World Championship and as the Italian Grand Prix for the GT30 class. Pilots from England, Sweden, Norway, Finland, France, Portugal, Lithuania, and Italy gathered on the Lungomare Regina Margherita.
The three-day event followed the classic program: technical checks on Friday, free practice and qualifying on Saturday, and races and the "Sport Valley" Italian Grand Prix on Sunday evening. In Formula 2, victory went to the Lithuanian Edgaras Riabko, who finished ahead of Frenchman Peter Morin and Swede Hilmer Wiberg on the podium. The organization by the Circolo Nautico Porta d'Oriente, led by Giuseppe Danese, confirmed Brindisi as a world capital of powerboat racing.
The inner harbor and the Lungomare Regina Margherita are located in the center of Brindisi. By train: Brindisi station is just a few minutes' walk from the waterfront. By car: take the Brindisi exit from the SS16/SS379. By plane: Brindisi-Salento Airport is approximately 6 km from the city center.
Free admission along the Lungomare Regina Margherita. The main races are concentrated on Sunday afternoon and evening; technical checks take place on Friday and practice/qualifying on Saturday.
Traffic changes are expected in the harbor area during the event: it is advisable to reach the waterfront on foot or use peripheral parking lots. Bring a hat and water to enjoy the races under the summer sun.
