About Abruzzo Organ Festival

The Abruzzo Organ Festival is the premier organ music series in the Abruzzo region, bringing high-level organ concerts to historic churches every summer. In Martinsicuro, Teramo province, the festival stops at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church with free-admission events that blend ancient and contemporary repertoires, celebrating both the organ as an instrument and the local sacred heritage. Promoted by the Società della Musica e del Teatro Primo Riccitelli, the event is held under the patronage of the Abruzzo Region.

A widespread organ festival across Abruzzo

The Abruzzo Organ Festival is one of the region's most important musical events, entirely dedicated to organ music. Every year, from May to September, the festival offers a long series of concerts hosted in churches and places of worship across numerous Abruzzo towns, turning historic and modern parish organs into the stars of a musical and spiritual journey that spans the entire region.

The event is promoted by the Società della Musica e del Teatro Primo Riccitelli of Teramo and is held under the patronage of the Abruzzo Region, with the collaboration of the "A. Casella" State Conservatory of L'Aquila and the "G. Braga" State Conservatory of Teramo, as well as numerous municipalities and cultural associations. The artistic direction is entrusted to Maestro Giamila Berré, a professor at the L'Aquila Conservatory.

The Martinsicuro stop

Among the most anticipated stops is Martinsicuro, a coastal town in the province of Teramo, where concerts are held in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Here, the initiative is organized by the "Insieme con il Cuore" Association with the support of the Municipality of Martinsicuro and the local parish. The events are free of charge and feature programs ranging from the Italian Baroque repertoire to great Romantic and 20th-century composers, often with the participation of other instruments and voices alongside the organ.

Repertoire and atmosphere

The Abruzzo Organ Festival concerts offer the public the opportunity to hear the organ in all its tonal richness, from Baroque counterpoint to the most intense pages of the European tradition. The naves of Abruzzo's churches become natural soundboards, where the acoustics and the meditative atmosphere of the sacred space enhance the listening experience. In Martinsicuro, the festival has also showcased local young organist Giuseppe Cicchi, who developed his artistic skills within the framework of the festival.

A bridge between territory and culture

The Abruzzo Organ Festival is not just a series of concerts, but a project aimed at promoting the organ heritage and the communities that safeguard it. For Martinsicuro and the other towns involved — from Alba Adriatica to Silvi, from Pineto to the inland villages — the festival represents an opportunity to rediscover their churches and to offer, in the heart of the Abruzzo summer, a moment of high culture accessible to all.

Abruzzo Organ Festival — edition 2026

The sixth edition of the Abruzzo Organ Festival returns to Martinsicuro on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 9:00 PM, at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. The concert, titled "Counterpoint and its Faces," features organist Giuseppe Cicchi. Free admission.

In 2026, the Abruzzo Organ Festival reaches its sixth edition, with a program spread across the entire region from July 3 to September 13. In Martinsicuro, the festival opened on July 3 at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church with the concert "Chordae et Animae," for guitar and organ, performed by Antonio Di Silvestre and Simone Di Meo, featuring music ranging from Frescobaldi and Bach to Granados, Ravel, and Villa-Lobos.

The second Martinsicuro event is scheduled for Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 9:00 PM, again at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, with the concert "Counterpoint and its Faces," performed by organist Giuseppe Cicchi. The evening is free of charge.
