Abbracciamoci, the midsummer festival in San Salvo

Abbracciamoci is one of the most awaited summer events in San Salvo, a coastal town in the province of Chieti, Abruzzo. Created to liven up the warm August nights, the event combines two complementary souls: street food, with gourmet stalls and local street flavors, and street art, featuring performers and roving shows. The result is a widespread festival atmosphere that draws hundreds of people of all ages into the heart of the town.

Street food and street art under the stars

The format is that of a large open-air popular festival. Food stalls open in the early evening offering delicious grab-and-go specialties, while street performers, DJ sets, street bands, games, and entertainment fill the pathways. The atmosphere is the convivial and informal one typical of Abruzzo summer nights, with the Villa Comunale and the city center streets becoming one large pedestrian space to be enjoyed between tastings and performances.

Paired with Nottambula

Abbracciamoci is part of the rich summer program of the Municipality of San Salvo and is traditionally paired with Nottambula, the white night that enlivens the city center the following evening. Together, the two events create an August weekend entirely dedicated to music, shows, and social gatherings, designed to welcome both residents and the many tourists who flock to San Salvo Marina and the Trabocchi Coast in summer.

Organization and territory

The event is organized by the cultural association New Generation under the patronage of the City of San Salvo. It is part of a broader calendar of summer initiatives that, through concerts, theater, food festivals, and gastronomic events like the Magnalonga, showcases the identity of this corner of Abruzzo overlooking the Adriatic, where the tradition of hospitality meets the desire to gather outdoors on midsummer nights.
