The oldest and longest cross-country ski marathon in South Tyrol, finishing in Villabassa
The 3 Zinnen Ski-Marathon, known for decades as the Pustertaler Ski-Marathon, is the oldest and longest cross-country ski race in South Tyrol. Part of the prestigious international Worldloppet circuit, the race attracts hundreds of cross-country skiers every January to the Alta Pusteria region, from elite champions to amateurs, all drawn by one of the most scenic routes in the Alps. In January 2026, the event reached the symbolic milestone of its 50th edition, rebranding to adopt the identity of the 3 Zinnen/Tre Cime area.
The municipality of Villabassa/Niederdorf, in the province of Bolzano (Trentino-South Tyrol), is a key protagonist of the event: it serves as the finish line for the 62 km classic race and, the following day, the start and finish of the Prato Piazza Mountain Challenge. The town center also hosts bib collection between the school gym and the town hall, buzzing with athletes, technicians, and enthusiasts throughout the entire race weekend.
The most challenging course, the 62 km classic race, starts in the scenic Val Fiscalina in Sesto and crosses the Alta Pusteria, passing through San Candido, Dobbiaco, and the Val di Landro, at the foot of the famous Tre Cime di Lavaredo (UNESCO World Heritage), before reaching the finish in Villabassa. The program also includes:
More than just a competition, the 3 Zinnen Ski-Marathon is a celebration of winter sports in the heart of the Dolomites. The weekend combines athletic challenge with the charm of the snow-covered Alta Pusteria landscapes, featuring social moments like the pasta party and after-race events, in an atmosphere that blends South Tyrolean cross-country tradition with the hospitality of the communities of Sesto, San Candido, Dobbiaco, and Villabassa. An unmissable event for lovers of cross-country skiing and the mountains.
The 50th edition of the 3 Zinnen Ski-Marathon took place from January 9 to 11, 2026, in Alta Pusteria, celebrating half a century of the race's history.
