Forty years of community life in Lappago

In the summer of 2026, the small mountain village of Lappago (known in German as Lappach), nestled in the Tures Valley within the municipality of Selva dei Molini (Mühlwald), celebrates a significant milestone: the 40th anniversary of the Freizeitverein Lappach, the local recreational association. The occasion sparks a jubilee festival involving the entire community of this secluded corner of South Tyrol, in the Province of Bolzano.

The history of the Freizeitverein Lappach

The Freizeitverein Lappach (FVL) was established on October 4, 1986, by 41 residents of Lappago with the goal of enlivening the village's social life and organizing recreational activities for all ages. Over the decades, the association has promoted snow days and sledding in ski resorts, excursions, friendly gatherings, and festive moments that have strengthened the sense of belonging in a small but cohesive community. After celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2011, the association now reaches the forty-year mark: an anniversary that is celebrated in Lappago as a true village-wide festival.

A mountain community festival

The Jubiläumsfeier is conceived as a typical South Tyrolean village festival: a convivial occasion where association life opens up to residents, families, and guests of the valley. In the best South Tyrolean tradition, these moments combine live music from local bands, typical Puster Valley cuisine, and the informal, friendly atmosphere that characterizes the small villages of the Tures and Aurina Valleys.

Situated at an altitude of over 1,400 meters, Lappago is the highest and most remote village in the municipality of Selva dei Molini, overlooking the valley of the same name in the Puster Valley.
