Walking and Tasting Valpolicella
4 Steps of Taste is the itinerant food and wine event of Marano di Valpolicella, a municipality in the province of Verona in the heart of the prestigious Valpolicella wine region. Organized by the Pro Loco for over twenty years, the event offers a panoramic walk with tasting stops, along a route that crosses some of the most fascinating corners of the valley.
A Route Through Vineyards and Historic Villas
The trail winds for about 10 km through vineyards, olive groves, cypress trees, rural courtyards, and historic residences from past centuries, across a hilly landscape that in some stretches offers views all the way to Lake Garda. The route is designed to be enjoyable and suitable for families, far from traffic and daily stress.
The Tasting Stops
Along the way, you will find several tasting stops where traditional dishes are served - from cured meats to fresh polenta with mushrooms - paired with wines from Marano and Valpolicella, such as Valpolicella Classico. Each stop is an opportunity to discover the authentic flavors of the territory and the hospitality of local businesses.
A Pro Loco Tradition
Born in the early 2000s, 4 Steps of Taste is now an anticipated event on the Valpolicella spring calendar. Participation requires registration, managed by the Pro Loco of Marano di Valpolicella, and places are highly sought after: every year the event attracts a large number of walkers and food and wine enthusiasts.
4 Steps of Taste — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of 4 Steps of Taste takes place on Sunday, March 29 in the valley of Marano di Valpolicella. The route, about 10 km long, crosses vineyards, olive groves, rural courtyards, and historic residences, with tasting stops of typical dishes paired with Valpolicella wines. The day opens with the collaboration of the Verona Journalism Festival.

Sunday, March 29, 2026 - Marano di Valpolicella Valley
- Morning - Staggered departure of groups (traditionally from the Valgatara area)
- Panoramic walk of about 10 km through the vineyards, olive groves, and hills of Valpolicella
- Several tasting stops along the route, with traditional dishes (cured meats, fresh polenta with mushrooms, and other specialties) paired with wines from Marano and Valpolicella, including Valpolicella Classico

How to get there
Marano di Valpolicella is in the province of Verona, in the Valpolicella Classica area. By car from the A22 Brennero (Verona Nord exit) or the A4 (Verona Sud exit), follow signs for Valpolicella. The start is traditionally near Valgatara.
Registration
Participation is by registration via an online form (Google Form), closing a few days before the event. Limited spots.
