The motor race on the roads of the Nebrodi Park, featuring the new Castell'Umberto special stage
The Rally dei Nebrodi is a staple of the Sicilian rally calendar, organized by the CST Sport team based in Sant'Angelo di Brolo, in the heart of the Nebrodi Park in the province of Messina. The event takes place on spectacular mountain roads that wind through some of the most characteristic towns in the Messina hinterland, attracting enthusiasts, crews, and spectators from all over Sicily and beyond every year.
The 26th edition, held from June 5 to 7, 2026, marked the debut of a brand-new special stage in the Municipality of Castell'Umberto, strongly requested by the municipal administration to bring this major competition to its local roads. The new "Castell'Umberto" stage was added to the Saturday program, run twice, and immediately became one of the most popular sections for spectators.
The official start was given on Saturday, June 6, at 2:30 PM from Sant'Angelo di Brolo. The first day featured the new "Castell'Umberto" stage at 3:53 PM, followed by the "Raccuja" stage, with both repeated in the evening. The final leg on Sunday, June 7, consisted of six special stages in total, with the "Piraino" and "Sant'Angelo" stages run three times each, for a total of ten timed stages. The arrival on the podium in Sant'Angelo di Brolo was scheduled for 6:35 PM, followed by the awards ceremony in Piazza Marchese.
The Rally dei Nebrodi is valid for important regional and zonal competitions: the ACI Sport 9th Zone Rally Cup, the Sicilian Rally Championship, and the Zonal Rally Trophy for historic cars. The 2026 edition saw over one hundred crews at the start, with a strong field of top-tier Rally2 cars, confirming the growing importance of the event in the Sicilian motorsport scene.
Beyond the competitive aspect, the Rally dei Nebrodi is an opportunity for tourism promotion and a celebration for the involved municipalities. The roads of the Nebrodi Park, amidst forests, mountain views, and historic villages in the province of Messina, provide a natural backdrop for the special stages. For Castell'Umberto, joining the race route in 2026 was an important recognition and showcase for the entire Nebrodi region.
