Dances and traditions of the world's peoples on the Riviera dei Fiori
The World Folklore Festival is the international folklore event that takes place in Diano Marina, on the Riviera dei Fiori in the province of Imperia. For two days, the town welcomes dance groups and folkloric ensembles from numerous countries, who liven up the center and the Molo delle Tartarughe with performances of dances and traditions of their respective peoples.
Each day follows the same schedule: in the afternoon, the folkloric groups parade through the streets of the center, followed by the main performances on the stage at the Molo delle Tartarughe. Amidst traditional costumes, live music, and choreography, the audience is taken on a journey through world cultures, from English Morris dancers to Central American folkloric ballets, from Baltic to Balkan dances.
Organized by Liguria Travel Tourist Agency in collaboration with international academic institutions, the festival is now a well-established event in the Dianese spring. Its intercultural dimension makes it a valuable opportunity for exchange and learning, as well as a free spectacle of great appeal for families.
Held in April, the World Folklore Festival anticipates the tourist season and offers visitors one more reason to discover Diano Marina and the Dianese Gulf during a period of mild climate and intense colors on the Western Ligurian Riviera.
The ninth edition of the World Folklore Festival takes place in Diano Marina on April 11 and 16, 2026. The two days follow the same program: at 3 PM, parades of folkloric groups along the streets of the center, at 4 PM, main performances at the Molo delle Tartarughe.
On April 11, groups from fifteen countries are expected, including England, Panama, Estonia, Ireland, Croatia, Sweden, Spain, USA, Germany, Lithuania, Egypt, Romania, Poland, and Serbia; on April 16, there will be formations from Germany, Austria, Estonia, Albania, and Bulgaria. The event is organized by Liguria Travel Tourist Agency, hosted by Nevenka Vukosav.
Diano Marina is reachable from the Imperia Est exit of the A10 motorway and from the train station on the Genoa-Ventimiglia line. Parades and performances take place in the center and along the seafront.
Free access to parades and performances.
