The Wine Festival - Winter Edition in Carosino

The Wine Festival - Winter Edition is the winter and Christmas-themed evolution of the renowned Carosino Wine Festival, held in a small town in the province of Taranto known as one of Puglia's wine capitals. While the original festival takes place between August and September, near the harvest, the Winter Edition brings the same wine-centered celebration back to the town center during the most magical time of the year, when lights and markets transform the village streets into a convivial journey through taste and tradition.

The fountain that flows with wine

The absolute symbol of the event is the monumental fountain in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele III, built in the late 19th century: during the festival, instead of water, Primitivo wine flows from the fountain, a spectacular gesture that dates back to the 1960s and is now an integral part of the Via Appia route. The heart of the Winter Edition centers around this fountain, amidst toasts, singing, and dancing.

The festival program

The Winter Edition spans two evenings packed with events. The typical program includes:

• the lighting and wine tasting at the monumental fountain;
• food and wine stalls featuring the essential pettole and local specialties;
• artisan and Christmas markets along the streets of the town center;
• Christmas and wine-culture themed art exhibitions hosted in the village's historic palaces;
• live music, DJ sets, children's entertainment, and a visit from Santa Claus.

Carosino, land of wine

The Carosino Wine Festival, established in the mid-1960s and officially recognized in 1966, is considered one of the first organized wine festivals in Puglia and Southern Italy. The Winter Edition carries on this legacy in a winter key, highlighting Primitivo and the oenological identity of the Carosino area, nestled among the vineyards of the province of Taranto.

An event by the Pro Loco and the Municipality

The event is organized by the Pro Loco Carosino APS in collaboration with the Municipality of Carosino and local associations, with the goal of enlivening the village during the Christmas season and introducing visitors to the wine culture and folk traditions of Puglia. Admission is free, and the festival is designed for families, food and wine enthusiasts, and the curious.

2026 Edition

The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been officially announced. The last documented edition took place on December 5 and 6, 2025: as soon as the Pro Loco Carosino APS publishes the updated calendar, this page will be updated with the dates and program for the next Winter Edition.
