About White Night of Tastings

Every year on the first Saturday of July, Valmontone transforms into an open-air food and wine showcase for the White Night of Tastings. Dozens of Pro Loco associations from across Italy set up stalls along Via Sant'Antonio, offering buffalo mozzarella, truffles, cured meats, cheeses, wines, and regional desserts, accompanied by live music, performances, and folklore. A free-entry journey through the flavors of Italy, held in the heart of the province of Rome.

A gastronomic journey across Italy

The White Night of Tastings is the most delicious summer event in Valmontone, a town in the province of Rome known for the Palazzo Doria Pamphilj and its strategic location between the Castelli Romani and the Sacco Valley. Every year, around the first Saturday of July, the event organized by the Pro Loco Valmontone APS with the patronage of the Municipality of Valmontone attracts thousands of visitors from across the Lazio region for an evening dedicated to authentic Italian products.

Pro Loco associations take center stage

The concept is unique: rather than simple commercial stalls, dozens of Pro Loco associations from all over Italy—including Campania, Umbria, Molise, Puglia, Veneto, Basilicata, Abruzzo, Tuscany, Calabria, Emilia-Romagna, Sardinia, Lombardy, and of course, Lazio—share their local heritage through food. In the most successful editions, up to 70 associations have participated, offering hundreds of specialties. The event also hosts the Regional Festival of the Pro Loco of Lazio, promoted with the UNPLI regional committee, making Valmontone the regional capital of local promotion associations.

What to taste

The culinary trail along Via Sant'Antonio offers a sample of Italian gastronomy:

  • Buffalo mozzarella from Campania and cheeses from across the peninsula
  • Truffles from Umbria and truffle-based specialties
  • Cured meats, polenta, and traditional first courses
  • Wines and Prosecco from various regions
  • Traditional desserts from North to South
  • Valencian paella prepared by the Spanish delegation from Benifaiò, a town twinned with Valmontone since 1987

Music, entertainment, and folklore

Alongside the tastings, the White Night enlivens the city streets with live concerts, folk groups, and performances until late at night. Over the years, guests such as Orchestraccia and Gemelli Diversi have performed, while the 2025 edition featured the 90s-themed party, Ritmo 90. Collateral exhibitions, such as vintage Fiat 500 rallies, are also a staple.

A consolidated tradition

Originally conceived as a white night for the historic center, the event has now surpassed fifteen editions: the 13th took place in 2019, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the Pro Loco of Valmontone, and the 17th in 2025. After moving to Via Sant'Antonio, at the "Valle", the festival has maintained its identity: a free, popular, and convivial evening that unites the Italy of the Pro Loco in the heart of Lazio.

Valmontone, gateway to the Prenestino territory

Participating in the White Night is also the perfect opportunity to discover Valmontone: the 17th-century Palazzo Doria Pamphilj with its museum, the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria Maggiore, and, just a few kilometers away, the entertainment and shopping destinations that have made the town famous. The Municipality provides a free shuttle service from the main parking areas for the occasion.

White Night of Tastings — edition 2026

On Saturday, July 4, 2026, Valmontone lit up the night with a new edition of the White Night of Tastings: from 7:00 PM, Via Sant'Antonio filled with stalls from Pro Loco associations across Italy, featuring cured meats, cheeses, truffles, wines, Prosecco, desserts, and the Valencian paella from the Spanish delegation of Benifaiò, complete with music, shows, and a free shuttle.

The 2026 edition of the White Night of Tastings took place on Saturday, July 4, along Via Sant'Antonio in Valmontone, starting at 7:00 PM and continuing until late. Promoted by Pro Loco Valmontone with the patronage of the City of Valmontone, the evening brought the typical products of numerous Italian regions to the streets: buffalo mozzarella, pesto, truffles, cured meats, cheeses, polenta, wines, Prosecco, first courses, and desserts, offered by the Pro Loco stalls from Campania, Umbria, Molise, Puglia, Veneto, Basilicata, Abruzzo, Tuscany, Calabria, Emilia-Romagna, Sardinia, Lombardy, and Lazio.

The guest of honor, as per tradition, was the Spanish delegation from Benifaiò — a town twinned with Valmontone since 1987 — serving its Valencian paella. The festival was accompanied by music and live performances along the entire route, with free admission and a free shuttle service from the main city parking lots.
