The Easter Concert in Nova Levante

In the small municipality of Nova Levante (Welschnofen in German), nestled at the foot of the Catinaccio and Latemar massifs in the province of Bolzano, Easter Sunday has a fixed tradition: the Osterkonzert der Musikkapelle Welschnofen, the village's annual Easter concert. It is a moment when the entire community gathers at the Haus der Dorfgemeinschaft to celebrate the holiday through music.

One of the oldest associations in the village

The Musikkapelle Welschnofen is the oldest active association in Nova Levante, with records dating back to the mid-19th century; the band participated in an event in Bolzano as early as 1848. Today, it consists of about fifty musicians, mostly young, led by conductor Ivan Dejori and president Martin Pardeller. Throughout the year, the band performs at approximately eighty events, including carnival shows, summer concerts, religious processions, and, of course, the Easter concert.

What to expect

The concert program is diverse and designed to complement the festive atmosphere of the day, featuring everything from traditional brass band music—marches, polkas, and waltzes—to symphonic wind music and refined modern entertainment pieces. The evening takes place at the Haus der Dorfgemeinschaft, the community center in the heart of the village, and admission is free with no reservation required.

Nova Levante and the Carezza area

Nova Levante is part of the Carezza tourist area, one of the most picturesque spots in the Dolomites, famous for Lake Carezza and the Catinaccio peaks that glow pink at sunset (the 'enrosadira'). The Easter concert is the perfect opportunity to discover the most authentic and communal side of this corner of South Tyrol, where the brass band tradition remains deeply rooted in local life.
