About W la Danza

W la Danza is an international dance competition that transforms Rome into a grand stage for young dancers every spring. Under the artistic direction of choreographer Damiano Bisozzi, the event features Kids, Junior, and Senior categories across classical, modern, contemporary, and hip-hop styles. With an international jury, masterclasses with renowned teachers, cash prizes, and numerous scholarships for national and international training programs, it has become a benchmark event in the Roman dance scene.

W la Danza, a celebration of dance in Rome

W la Danza - International Dance Competition is one of the most anticipated dance events in the capital. Every year, the competition brings hundreds of young dancers from schools and academies across Italy to Rome, in the Lazio region, for two intense days of competition, masterclasses, and auditions. The event is organized by MM Eventi di Maria Meoni and is held under the artistic direction of dancer and choreographer Damiano Bisozzi.

A competition for all ages

The competition is structured by age group to support the growth of every student. The categories are:

  • Kids (6-10 years old)
  • Junior (11-14 years old)
  • Senior (15 years and older)
  • Choreographic Composition, with no age limit, dedicated to group choreography and emerging young companies

Participants can compete in multiple styles: classical, modern, contemporary, and hip hop. Alongside the competition, morning masterclasses held by teachers and choreographers allow students to work closely with industry professionals.

An international jury

One of the strengths of W la Danza is its international jury, composed of choreographers, artistic directors, and leading figures in the dance world. Performances are evaluated based on clear criteria: technical preparation, choreographic work, musicality and synchronization, and overall artistic quality. This interaction with established professionals provides young dancers with a valuable opportunity for growth and guidance.

Prizes and scholarships

The competition is more than just a contest; it is a gateway to the professional world. It offers cash prizes and numerous scholarships that allow winners to access masterclasses and training courses in Italy and abroad. For many, W la Danza serves as a concrete stepping stone toward a professional career in dance.

Rome, the city of dance

The choice of Rome is no coincidence: the Eternal City, with its history and artistic vocation, has always been a source of inspiration for dancers and choreographers. The competition is held in the EUR district, in a spacious and well-equipped venue capable of hosting the many participating schools, families, and the public. For two days, dance takes center stage, filled with energy, emotion, and the healthy competitive spirit typical of major contests.
