Rome's choirs gather at Villa Bonelli for the Music Festival
Voci in Villa is the choral highlight of the Music Festival (Festa della Musica), hosted in the historic Villa Bonelli park, located in the Portuense district of Rome's Municipality XI. The initiative is promoted by the Note Controvento APS Cultural Association and takes place in the afternoon at Bar Barrio, nestled within the villa's greenery, with free admission for all.
The format is designed to celebrate ensemble singing: various choirs take turns on stage with short performances, interspersed with introductions to the groups and their projects. The day concludes with a choral finale open to the public, where attendees are invited to join their voices and sing a song togetherโa simple gesture that turns spectators into active participants.
Voci in Villa is part of the broader Music Festival program, the international celebration that fills streets, squares, and parks with free concerts every June 21st. In Rome, Municipality XI Arvalia-Portuense participates with numerous local initiatives, and Villa Bonelli stands out as one of the most vibrant venues: on the same day, the park also hosts other musical events, such as the Pensagramma Music Fest, enlivening the villa from morning until evening.
With its tree-lined avenues and lush green spaces, Villa Bonelli has long been a cultural and community hub for the Portuense district. Family activities, workshops, outdoor cinema, and concerts make the villa a beating heart of neighborhood life. Voci in Villa brings the most authentic spirit of the Music Festival to this setting: not a massive concert, but a focus on participation, the meeting of diverse choral groups, and the joy of singing together on a summer afternoon.
An event designed for those who love community music and want to experience the Music Festival away from the crowds of large stages, in a green corner of Rome.
