The Barletta running race along the Mennea seafront
Vivi Barletta is one of the most cherished running events in the Apulian calendar, transforming the streets of Barletta's city center into a vibrant river of runners. Organized by the A.S.D. Barletta Sportiva sports association, the event combines the competitive challenge for FIDAL-registered athletes with open participation for amateurs, walkers, and families. It is a day designed to bring the entire community of Barletta, in the province of Barletta-Andria-Trani (BAT), together through sport.
The event offers several ways to join: a 10 km competitive race valid for the regional circuit, reserved for FIDAL-registered athletes, Runcard holders, EPS members with Runcard, and FISPES athletes, as well as two 5 km and 10 km non-competitive routes open to anyone wishing to spend a morning outdoors, whether running or walking. There are also promotional events for children, making Vivi Barletta an event suitable for all ages.
The course is one of the event's highlights: it unfolds in the heart of the city, passing through Corso Cavour, Corso Garibaldi, and Corso Vittorio Emanuele, with a scenic loop around the Swabian Castle before returning to the Pietro Mennea seafront. The meeting point and start area are located at Parco Mennea, on the promenade named after the most famous athlete from Barletta, Pietro Mennea, the "Arrow of the South".
Beyond the competition, Vivi Barletta has grown over the years into a festival of sport and social connection, emphasizing values such as dedication, perseverance, and shared well-being. The event is sponsored by the Municipality of Barletta, the Puglia Region, C.O.N.I., and FIDAL, serving as an important stage for Apulian running clubs competing on the city streets. Running along the Adriatic Sea, surrounded by the iconic monuments of Puglia, is an experience that draws hundreds of participants to Barletta every year.
The 2026 edition of Vivi Barletta, the sixteenth, was held on Sunday, May 17, 2026, with the start and finish line on the Lungomare Pietro Mennea. The event, organized by A.S.D. Barletta Sportiva, was valid as the 7th stage of the 2026 CorriPuglia circuit, the FIDAL Puglia regional championship, and saw registered runners, amateurs, and families take to the starting line on the various routes.
The competitive course, covering approximately 10 km over two 5 km laps, crossed the center of Barletta along Corso Cavour, Corso Garibaldi, and Corso Vittorio Emanuele, with a loop around the Swabian Castle, in a setting between the sea and monuments that turned the day into a true city sports festival.
