The sound of the new generation in the capital of Tuscia

The Viterbo Music Festival is the premier musical event of the Viterbo summer, dedicated to the Italian urban, rap, and pop scene. In a city best known for its medieval historic center and the Macchina di Santa Rosa, the festival has created a new space: a concert arena designed for a young audience, capable of attracting some of Italy's most-listened-to artists to Viterbo.

From the Encore Festival to the Viterbo Music Festival

The event did not appear out of thin air; it is the natural evolution of a journey spanning over ten years in the Viterbo area, which previously included the Encore Festival and the Viterbo Future Festival. Renamed the Viterbo Music Festival in 2025, the project has scaled up, presenting itself as "a project that grows with the city" and an arena for major national-level events in the Tuscia region. The initiative is supported by the Municipality of Viterbo and the Regional Council of Lazio.

The 2025 edition: Anna, Ludwig, Kid Yugi, Bnkr44, Lazza, and Tiromancino

The debut, held between June and September 2025, transformed the former Viterbo Fairgrounds into a musical epicenter over three weekends. The first weekend (June 20-21) featured Ludwig and Anna, two of the most powerful voices in the national urban scene; July saw the arrival of Kid Yugi and Bnkr44, while the grand finale in September moved to Prato Giardino, coinciding with the Santa Rosa celebrations, featuring Tiromancino, Lazza, and the SuperNostalgica nights. The festival also had a charitable aspect: 5 euros from every ticket sold for the first two nights were donated to the University of Tuscia following a fire.

The 2026 edition at Prato Giardino

For 2026, the Municipality of Viterbo's event calendar places the Viterbo Music Festival from September 4th to 6th at Prato Giardino, the historic park at the edge of the center, immediately following the Transport of the Macchina di Santa Rosa, the famous illuminated tower carried on shoulders that is a UNESCO intangible heritage site. Three nights of music that integrate into the most intense moment of the Viterbo year, when the city is already in celebration. The artistic program has not yet been announced: names are revealed progressively on the festival's social media channels.

More than just a concert: DJ sets, pop-ups, and food areas

The Viterbo Music Festival format goes beyond live music: each evening combines concerts with exclusive DJ sets, exhibition spaces, pop-up experiences, and immersive entertainment, with stands, bars, and dining areas within the festival grounds. A metropolitan festival approach designed to make the entire evening an experience, not just the main performance.

Viterbo, Tuscia, and the young audience

For the province of Viterbo and the entire northern Lazio region, the festival represents a cultural gamble: bringing the music of the new generation to a city of art, just a stone's throw from the medieval San Pellegrino district and the Palace of the Popes. The audience comes from all over Tuscia, Rome, and Umbria, and the festival is now one of the best opportunities to discover Viterbo in a contemporary light.
