In the heart of the Canavese, just a few kilometers from Ivrea and Chivasso, the town of Vische (Province of Turin, Piedmont) celebrates its Carnival every year, one of the most heartfelt and well-attended events on the local winter calendar. For an entire weekend, the streets and squares of the historic center fill with masks, confetti, floats, and music, in a celebration that blends fun with popular tradition.

The allegorical parade

The heart of the event is the allegorical parade that winds through the village: colorful floats, masked groups, and performers bring to life a joyful procession that involves the entire community. The parade is the iconic highlight of the Vische Carnival, a moment of strong collective identity where the Canavese village transforms and welcomes visitors from neighboring towns.

A weekend of events

The Carnival program, curated by the G.O.A.P. of Vische, spans three days with a rich calendar of social events:

• Friday — the opening dinner, a gastronomic highlight that kicks off the festivities;
• Saturday — the aperitivo, a chance to gather in costume amidst music and good company;
• Sunday — the Carnival Run, a masked race that combines sport and fun, followed by the allegorical parade.

The gastronomic events and the race require advance booking: the organizers provide the dedicated contact details each year through the Municipality and G.O.A.P. channels.

A local tradition

The Vische Carnival is part of the rich carnival tradition of the Canavese and the Province of Turin, a land famous for the nearby Historic Carnival of Ivrea. Despite the more intimate scale of a village festival, the Vische Carnival preserves the authentic spirit of Piedmontese popular events: spontaneous community participation, a strong bond with the territory, and a focus on families and children.
