Vintage Vespas winding through the alleys of the Monti Sicani village
The Vintage Vespa Historical Rally brings a day entirely dedicated to the legend of the Vespa and the charm of vintage two-wheelers to Chiusa Sclafani, a picturesque village in the Metropolitan City of Palermo, perched on the Monti Sicani at an altitude of about 658 meters. The most beloved scooters in the history of Italian design parade through the alleys and squares of the historic center, treating visitors to a stunning display of colors, chrome, and nostalgia.
Known as the village of cherries, Chiusa Sclafani stretches across the Sosio river valley, in a territory rich in nature and history. Founded around the castle commissioned by Count Matteo Sclafani in the early 14th century, the town preserves the Mother Church, the Badia monumental complex, and the Church of the Annunziata. It is within this setting of stone and narrow streets that the rally finds its ideal backdrop: historic engines become part of an ancient urban landscape, and the passion of collectors intertwines with the identity of a Sicilian community proud of its roots.
The event is more than just a parade: the rally pairs a passion for motors with tastings of local products. Between one Vespa and the next, visitors can savor the specialties of the area, from the cherries that have made the village famous to the food and wine of the Sicani region. It is an opportunity to discover a lesser-known corner of inland Sicily, far from the beaten path, where the slow pace of village life meets the conviviality of a local festival.
The rally is part of Chiusa Sclafani's lively June season, a month when the village also celebrates its renowned cherry-growing heritage, offering a chance to experience the province of Palermo in a slow, authentic, and deeply Sicilian way.
On Sunday, June 7, 2026, Chiusa Sclafani hosted the Vintage Vespa Historical Rally, an event dedicated to lovers of vintage two-wheelers, tradition, and authentic villages. The iconic Vespas reached the heart of the town, parading through the narrow streets of the historic center and treating attendees to an atmosphere filled with color and chrome.
The event paired a passion for motors with tastings of local products, showcasing the flavors of the Sosio valley and the Monti Sicani. A day of celebration that drew enthusiasts, collectors, and families to the Palermitan village known as the land of cherries.
The rally enlivens the historic center of Chiusa Sclafani (PA), a village in the Monti Sicani within the Metropolitan City of Palermo, with a parade of vintage Vespas through the town's alleys and squares.
By car: Chiusa Sclafani can be reached from the A19 Palermo-Catania motorway (take the exit towards the interior) or via the state and provincial roads of the Sosio valley; the town is about an hour and a half from Palermo. By train/plane: The reference airport and train station are in Palermo, followed by a drive into the heart of the Monti Sicani.
Admission to the event is free. We recommend wearing comfortable footwear to walk through the village alleys and taking advantage of the day to visit the historic churches and sample local products, including seasonal cherries.
