The professional trade fair for Sicilian wine in Syracuse
Vinacria - Ortigia Wine Fest is the first professional trade fair dedicated exclusively to Sicilian wine, designed to redefine the language of the island's oenology and place it at the forefront of the national and international market. The event takes place in Syracuse, in the heart of the Aretusean territory, and has become one of the most anticipated dates on the Sicily wine calendar.
The festival brings together wineries, extra virgin olive oil producers, and spirits distillers from all of Sicily's wine-growing regions: from Val di Mazara to Val di Noto, from Val Dèmone to the volcanic slopes of Etna. Alongside the tasting counters, the program features a packed schedule of masterclasses led by sommeliers, oenologists, and renowned food and wine critics, as well as symposia, book presentations, and discussions on the future of Sicilian wine.
Vinacria caters to both industry professionals—restaurateurs, wine merchants, distributors, and international buyers—and enthusiasts, with a special focus on the pop dimension of wine: popular, accessible, inclusive, and authentic. The theme chosen by the organizers aims to restore wine's value as a universal language capable of uniting people and cultures.
Organized by the Vinacria Association, based in Palazzolo Acreide in the province of Syracuse, the event involves the city's entire tourism and hospitality sector, from hotels to businesses on the island of Ortigia, and includes local hospitality school students gaining hands-on training. It is a project that links wine promotion to the enhancement of the territory and the food and wine identity of south-eastern Sicily.
The 2026 edition of Vinacria - Ortigia Wine Fest moved to a new venue at the Maritime Station of Syracuse, providing a larger space to accommodate the event's growth. The theme POP - popular, accessible, inclusive, authentic was reaffirmed, with the goal of restoring wine to its dimension as a universal language.
Featuring tasting counters, over eighty wine, spirits, and olive oil producers, and a section dedicated to national and international distribution, the program offered six masterclasses: five focused on wine and one on extra virgin olive oil. There was a strong focus on internationalization, with 30 foreign buyers present thanks to the ICE Agency, alongside the involvement of restaurateurs, hoteliers, and wine merchants from Ortigia.
Three days of tasting counters with over eighty wine, spirits, and olive oil producers. The program included six masterclasses: five dedicated to Sicilian wine and one to extra virgin olive oil. A space was dedicated to international buyers and industry professionals, with the involvement of Ortigia's hospitality businesses and students from the Syracuse hospitality school.
Syracuse is accessible by car via the A18 Catania-Syracuse motorway. The Syracuse train station is connected to the island's main cities; the nearest airport is Catania-Fontanarossa, about an hour away. The Maritime Station is located near the port, a short distance from the island of Ortigia.
Admission includes tickets for the general public and dedicated accreditation for industry professionals. Information and ticket purchases are available on the official website vinacriawinefest.it.
We recommend combining your visit to the festival with a stay in the historic center of Ortigia, which is full of hotels, restaurants, and activities related to local wine and cuisine.
