Big concerts and shows under the walls of the Scaligero Castle
The Villafranca Festival is the major summer series of concerts and shows that enlivens the courtyard of the Scaligero Castle in Villafranca di Verona, in the plain southwest of the provincial capital. The setting is the massive and evocative thirteenth-century fortress built by the Scaligeri family to guard the Veronese border: a natural amphitheater of walls and towers that serves as a backdrop for a program capable of blending auteur pop, rock, world music, and moments of cultural insight.
Organized by Eventi Verona, the festival offers a dense sequence of evenings each edition, ranging from the great protagonists of Italian song to international rock names, including talks and readings. Over the years, the Villafranca stage has hosted artists capable of filling squares all over Italy, and the formula of a concert under the stars in a historic location has become one of the most anticipated events of the Veronese summer.
More than just a series of concerts, the Villafranca Festival is now a landmark for the public of the province of Verona and the southern Garda area: an event that brings national-level productions to a medium-sized town, attracting well over fifty thousand spectators in total throughout the entire program. The Castle, illuminated for the occasion, thus becomes the symbol of a summer of music that unites tradition and great entertainment.
The Villafranca Festival 2026 runs from July 2 to September 1 with sixteen evenings at the Scaligero Castle, featuring big names in Italian music, international guests, and spoken word events. Organized by Eventi Verona, the festival confirms its role as a major summer event for the province of Verona, capable of bringing significant national productions to a single location.
The program includes a total of sixteen events comprising concerts, talks, and shows; some dates and times may be subject to change: it is advisable to check official channels and ticket outlets.
Villafranca di Verona is located about 15 km southwest of Verona. By car, it can be reached from the A4 motorway (Sommacampagna exit) or the A22 Brenner motorway. The Villafranca di Verona train station is on the Verona–Mantova line and is a few minutes' walk from the Scaligero Castle.
Concerts are ticketed, with tickets on sale through the main circuits (Ticketmaster, Vivaticket). Prices vary depending on the artist and seating section. Advance purchase is recommended for evenings featuring the most popular artists.
