The Villacanale Sea Festival is a charming fish festival that, for over thirty years, has brought the flavors of the sea to an entirely unexpected setting: the mountains of Alto Molise. Villacanale is a hamlet of Agnone, in the province of Isernia, and every August 14th, for the Ferragosto holiday, its square comes alive with the "fish festival," featuring tastings of seafood, music, and dancing.
A community tradition
The event, founded in 1992, is organized by the Associazione Culturale Nuova Villacanale in collaboration with the Municipality of Agnone. It is a moment of strong cohesion for the small community, which also attracts returning emigrants and the many summer visitors to Molise. To facilitate participation and allow everyone to enjoy the evening, a shuttle service is provided from Agnone.

The Sea Festival is part of Agnone's rich summer calendar (Agnone Estate) and represents one of the most anticipated events of the Alto Molise Ferragosto. Amidst the aroma of fish, live music, and a convivial atmosphere, it is the perfect opportunity to discover an authentic corner of Molise far from the most beaten tourist paths.

The 2026 edition of the Villacanale Sea Festival takes place on August 14th, renewing an August 15th tradition that has been running since 1992. The square of the Agnone hamlet will host the fish festival with seafood tastings, music, and dancing in the evening. As tradition dictates, the shuttle service from Agnone is confirmed. Villacanale is a hamlet of Agnone, in Alto Molise (province of Isernia), reachable by car from the SS86. On the evening of the festival, a shuttle service operates from Agnone. The nearest train station is Isernia.
