Art, music, and culture in the former Ospedale Maggiore
The Vecchio Ospedale Festival is the multidisciplinary exhibition held in the spaces of the former Ospedale Maggiore in Cremona, one of the city's most significant and evocative locations. Promoted by the Latin American Association of Cremona (ALAC) in collaboration with numerous third-sector organizations, the festival was created with the aim of enhancing this historical heritage, returning it to the community through culture.
The program intertwines multiple languages: art exhibitions, concerts, theatre performances, book presentations, workshops, and guided tours animate the spaces of the ancient hospital and surrounding areas for several days. Each event creates a dialogue between the historical memory of the site and contemporary artistic expressions, in a rich and varied journey.
A distinctive feature of the event is its inclusive and multicultural spirit: the festival provides space for social issues, diverse cultures — with particular attention to the Latin American world — and the protagonism of local associations. Readings, debates, musical performances, and discussion forums make the exhibition a place for meeting and participation, as well as artistic enjoyment.
Through culture, the Vecchio Ospedale Festival brings attention back to a historic area of Cremona, helping to enhance its heritage and keep it alive. An event that enriches the cultural offerings of the Province of Cremona with an original, sensitive, and locally rooted proposal.
The 6th edition of the Vecchio Ospedale Festival takes place from April 23rd to 26th, 2026 in the spaces of the former Ospedale Maggiore in Cremona. The event, promoted by the Latin American Association of Cremona (ALAC) in collaboration with numerous third-sector organizations, offers four days of exhibitions, concerts, theatre performances, book presentations, workshops, and guided tours.
The program intertwines historical heritage and contemporary languages, with an inclusive and multicultural spirit: from a discussion on "Violeta Parra: rebellious voice and lover of Latin America" with the Coro Voz Latina, to the opening of an exhibition dedicated to the artist Toni Bassanetti, to a workshop on African percussion with Bawa Salifu, to the "Third Sector in the Square" day, and guided tours of the Sant'Abbondio cloister and book presentations.
