Art takes centre stage in Genivolta

The National Painting Competition of Genivolta (Province of Cremona) is an artistic event with a long tradition, now approaching its fortieth edition. Promoted by Atelier Zumbolo with the patronage of the Municipality, the free-theme competition attracts painters from all over Italy, transforming this small village in the Cremona countryside into a reference point for figurative art.

How the competition works

Artists participate with free-theme works, which are judged by a jury and then exhibited to the public:

• Free-theme competition open to painters from all over Italy;
• Exhibition of works at the Palazzo Comunale of Genivolta;
• Award ceremony in autumn, with a prize pool of several thousand euros;
• Municipal patronage and organization by Atelier Zumbolo.

A village with a cultural vocation

Genivolta, whose patron saint is Saint Lawrence the Martyr (celebrated in the archpriest church on August 10th), combines its religious and rural identity with a surprising artistic vocation, fueled for decades by the painting competition. The event represents an opportunity for artists, enthusiasts, and the public to meet, and helps to make the Cremona village known well beyond its local borders.
