Six days in Jesi designed and built by Generation Z youth
The tZunami Festival — on the wave of Gen Z is a brand-new event that brings to Jesi, in the heart of the Province of Ancona and the Marche region, a week entirely dedicated to Generation Z. The unique aspect that sets it apart from any other event is simple: it wasn't imposed from above, but co-designed by the city's high school students and the Youth Council. It was the young people who chose the themes, guests, and venues, transforming their ideas into a real program.
The festival is the result of PartecJpare, a two-year youth participation project supported by the Cariverona Call and promoted by Cooss Marche in collaboration with the Municipality of Jesi, Action Aid, and the IIS Galilei. During the two years of the project, young people participated in workshops on active citizenship, investigative journalism, and cultural planning: the tZunami Festival is the moment when all this work became public and, in a good way, took over the city's squares.
tZunami is not held in a single location but is a widespread festival that connects the most beautiful spaces in the historic center: Piazza Pergolesi, Piazza della Repubblica, the auditorium of Hotel Federico II, the Moriconi Theatre, the Diocesan Library, and especially the Public Gardens of Viale Cavallotti, the beating heart of the musical evenings. Furthermore, throughout the week, the network of city museums opens its doors free of charge to those under 30.
The program blends lightheartedness with serious content: from concerts by emerging local artists to a comedy interview with a creator highly followed by young people, from theatrical performances to discussions on road safety, the environment, and peace. It's a festival that entertains but also encourages reflection, true to the spirit of a generation that wants to express itself and make its voice heard.
All tZunami Festival activities are free admission, with reservations recommended for many events due to limited capacity in theatres and auditoriums. This choice is consistent with the festival's goal: to break down all barriers and make culture truly accessible to all young people in Jesi and the surrounding Vallesina municipalities.
The first edition of the tZunami Festival inaugurated a completely new format in Jesi: a widespread and free festival entirely co-designed by high school students and the Youth Council, born as part of the PartecJpare project (Cariverona Call) with Cooss Marche, the Municipality of Jesi, Action Aid, and IIS Galilei. From April 7 to 12, the city offered its squares, theatres, the auditorium of Hotel Federico II, the Diocesan Library, and the Public Gardens of Viale Cavallotti, while the city's museum network offered free admission to under-30s throughout the week.
Throughout the week, the Jesi museum network is open free of charge to under-30s.
The tZunami Festival is spread across multiple venues in the center of Jesi (AN): Piazza Pergolesi, Piazza della Repubblica, auditorium of Hotel Federico II, Moriconi Theatre, Diocesan Library, and Public Gardens of Viale Cavallotti.
By car, Jesi is accessible from the SS76 (Jesi exit), which connects Ancona to the inland Marche region. By train, Jesi station is served by the Ancona–Rome line; the historic center is a few minutes from the station. The nearest airport is Ancona-Falconara, about 20 minutes away.
All events are free; reservations are recommended for theatres and auditoriums. For information, call +39 346 0171747 or visit the Instagram profile @tzunami.festival.
