The Tuscia Film Fest closing night has long been one of the most anticipated events of the Tuscia summer. Following a week of screenings and meetings that bring Piazza San Lorenzo in Viterbo to life, the festival concludes with a special night in the Sacro Bosco of Bomarzo, the renowned Monster Park, one of Italy's most fascinating and mysterious locations. It is here, among the 16th-century sculptures commissioned by Pier Francesco (Vicino) Orsini, that cinema meets art, theatre, and landscape.

A place unique in the world

Created starting in the mid-16th century, the Sacro Bosco is considered the oldest sculpture park of the modern era. The massive figures carved directly into the rock—the Ogre, Neptune, the Leaning House, the Temple dedicated to the memory of Giulia Farnese—create a dreamlike, Mannerist path that breaks away from the symmetry of traditional Italian gardens. During the closing night, the park remains open in the evening and is illuminated, offering the public a rare experience: strolling among the stone «monsters» while actors and actresses give voice to texts and monologues in the garden's most iconic spots.

Cinema under the stars in the Temple of Vignola arena

The heart of the evening is the screening in the arena set up at the Temple of Vignola, which can accommodate about five hundred spectators. Each year, the festival brings a prominent guest of Italian cinema to Bomarzo, often awarded the «Tuscia Terra di Cinema» prize. The formula combines the big screen, meetings with authors, and the promotion of an extraordinary historical heritage, in a dialogue between the seventh art and the memory of the places that has become the hallmark of the event.

The Municipality of Bomarzo, a small village perched in the province of Viterbo, in Lazio, owes much of its fame to the Sacro Bosco. The Tuscia Film Fest evening is a precious opportunity to discover this corner of Tuscia, a land of tuff, Etruscans, and rolling hills, within a high-quality cultural setting. The festival, reaching its twenty-third edition in 2026, thus confirms the deep bond between auteur cinema and the Viterbo territory.
