Prog Returns to the Fortress
The Trasimeno Prog Festival is a showcase dedicated to progressive rock held in August at the Rocca Medievale del Leone (Medieval Fortress of the Lion) in Castiglione del Lago, in the province of Perugia. The fortress, one of the most imposing in the Lake Trasimeno area, offers a spectacular and unusual setting for a musical genre that makes suggestion and theatricality one of its hallmarks.
Four Evenings of Music
The festival spans four evenings, each with its own identity: from tributes to the great historical names of international prog to performances by cult Italian bands, and projects that blend progressive with jazz-rock and symphonic music. The lineup alternates legendary formations and new acts, creating a journey designed for connoisseurs but capable of captivating the curious.
A Showcase with a Soul
Entering its seventh edition in 2026, the Trasimeno Prog Festival is organized with passion by the Trasimeno Prog association and is dedicated to the memory of Riccardo Regi, a figure linked to the event's inception. More than just a series of concerts, it's a meeting point for a community of enthusiasts who return to Castiglione del Lago each summer to celebrate a genre that has made music history.
Trasimeno Prog — edition 2026
The 2026 edition, the seventh, takes place from August 20th to 23rd at the Medieval Fortress of Castiglione del Lago, with four evenings dedicated to progressive rock. It opens with the Pink Floyd Night (rescheduled from an event postponed due to bad weather), continues with a concert by Le Orme, a symphonic tribute to Italian prog, and concludes with a jazz-rock evening. The festival is dedicated to the memory of Riccardo Regi.

Thursday, August 20th — Pink Floyd Night
Opening with the rescheduled event from the previous year due to bad weather: the Umbrian band Drunk Side and the Roman group Ranestrane with their personal reinterpretation of the album The Wall, accompanied by a screening of Alan Parker's famous film.
Friday, August 21st — Le Orme
Le Orme, one of the most iconic Italian progressive formations, with their Trilogy show live (1971-1973).
Saturday, August 22nd — Tribute to Italian Prog
Tribute to Italian prog with the International Symphonic Orchestra conducted by Maestro Leonardo Quadrini and La Cruna del Lago as the main band of the evening.
Sunday, August 23rd — Jazz-Rock Evening
Grand finale with Agorà, a historic band from the Marche region active since the seventies, premiering a new album, and the quartet of percussionist Tony Esposito, with a project reinterpreting his early solo works and paying tribute to Pino Daniele.

Getting Here
Castiglione del Lago (PG) is located on Lake Trasimeno. By car, take the Bettolle-Perugia highway junction; by train, the station is on the Florence-Rome line. The Rocca Medievale del Leone is in the historic center.
