Wine, art, and flavors at sunset in the Medici village of Artimino
Every summer, the village of Artimino, a hillside hamlet in the municipality of Carmignano in the province of Prato (Tuscany), transforms for two evenings into an open-air stage dedicated to wine, fine food, and art. Tramonti DiVini is the festival that celebrates Carmignano DOCG, one of Italy's oldest and most prestigious denominations, along with the gastronomic excellence of a territory that overlooks Florence and the Apennines from the Montalbano hills.
The heart of the event is the scenic Piazza San Carlo, at the foot of the 17th-century Medici Villa La Ferdinanda, the famous "Villa of the Hundred Chimneys" and now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Here, tasting stalls from the Carmignano Protection Consortium are set up, while the village's stairways and alleys come alive with "The Artists' Way": painters, artisans, and creatives guide visitors on an immersive journey that blends landscape, flavors, and culture.
The absolute stars are the Carmignano wines—from the DOCG red to the rosé, from the Barco Reale to the Vin Santo, and even the Trebbiano—offered by the Consortium's wineries in guided tastings, often supported by the Italian Sommelier Association. Accompanying them are food stalls from local restaurants, taverns, and wine bars, offering traditional Tuscan dishes and more creative sweet and savory options. Over the years, the event has brought together dozens of local wineries and restaurants, confirming its status as an exceptional showcase for the Carmignano taste chain.
Beyond food and wine, Tramonti DiVini offers live music (primarily jazz and singer-songwriter performances over the years), craft markets, and the special evening opening of the Archaeological Museum of Artimino "Francesco Nicosia," which houses highly valuable Etruscan artifacts. It is an opportunity to discover the dual soul of Artimino in a relaxed and convivial setting: a land of great wines and a crossroads of millennial history, from the Etruscans to the Medici.
Included in the initiatives promoted by the Movimento Turismo del Vino Toscana and organized by the Pro Loco together with the Municipality of Carmignano, the festival has become one of the most beloved summer events in the Province of Prato. Entry to the village is generally free: you purchase a pouch with a tasting glass and wander freely between the stalls, toasting at sunset with a view over the Montalbano hills.
The food and wine event of Carmignano (PO) returns to Artimino on Friday, June 26, and Saturday, June 27, 2026. Two evenings of wine, gastronomy, art, and music in the heart of the Medici village, with tasting stalls of Carmignano DOCG and local excellence in Piazza San Carlo.
As part of the initiative promoted by the Movimento Turismo del Vino Toscana, the Archaeological Museum opens its doors for a guided tour followed by a tasting of local products and wines from the Tenuta di Artimino. Cost: €15 for adults, €8 for children. Reservations required by Thursday, June 25 (tel. 055 8718124).
