The race on the trails of the Parma Apennines, through the chestnut and oak woods of Bore
The Trail della Val Cenedola is one of the most beloved trail running events in the Parma Apennines. It takes place every year in July in Bore, a small municipality in the Province of Parma in Emilia-Romagna, on the border with the Province of Piacenza. The start and finish are at the Municipal Sports Field, in the Mornasco area, from where the routes immediately enter the woods surrounding the town.
The event offers two competitive races on mountain trails, with an almost entirely unpaved surface:
The routes cross the chestnut and oak woods typical of this part of the Apennines, climb the ridges, and offer views of the Ceno and Cenedola valleys.
The Cenedola Valley is a land of ancient charm. These valleys, once known as Silva Arimannorum, preserve the memory of Lombard settlements โ as evidenced by the names of many nearby locations โ and a traditional economy based on free-range farming, and the harvesting of chestnuts and walnuts. Running here means traversing a landscape that combines sport and historical memory, in one of the most authentic corners of the Apennines between Parma and Piacenza.
The Trail della Val Cenedola is organized by Polisportiva Bore A.S.D. in collaboration with UISP Parma. The race is part of the Parma Provincial Trail Running circuit and is included in the Trofeo Alte Valli Cup, which brings together five trail events in the Parma Apennines from May to July. For the 2026 edition, the race celebrates its tenth edition, confirming its established place in the regional running calendar.
The Trail della Val Cenedola 2026 celebrates its tenth edition on Sunday, July 12, 2026, in Bore, in the Province of Parma. The event confirms its proven formula with two competitive races on mountain trails with an almost entirely unpaved surface, immersed in the chestnut and oak woods of the Parma Apennines.
The 2026 edition is part of the Parma Provincial Trail Running circuit and is the fifth and final stage of the Trofeo Alte Valli Cup, following the events in Bedonia, Tarsogno, Corniglio, and Schia di Tizzano.
Open starts from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM from the Mornasco Municipal Sports Field in Bore. Both routes run on mountain trails with an almost entirely unpaved surface, through the woods and ridges of the Cenedola Valley.
The race is valid for the Parma Provincial Trail Running circuit and the Trofeo Alte Valli Cup 2026.
