The patronal festival of Vigonza

The Traditional Festival of Saint Margaret Virgin Martyr, which everyone calls simply Vigonza Festival, is the late summer event of the municipality of Vigonza, in the province of Padua. Organized by the Parish of Vigonza with the patronage of the Municipality, it celebrates the patron saints of the town, Sebastian and Margaret, and gathers the entire community every year in Piazza Enrico Zanella.

Six days of community celebration

For almost a week, the square comes alive with the food stand, charity fishing, rides, and live music. There are also performances by local groups—from Vietnamese martial arts to artistic gymnastics—and the historic "stand dai tosi," managed by young people. The fireworks, in recent years also offered in a silent version, more respectful of animals and the environment, crown the festival.

The heart of the town's volunteerism

About two hundred volunteers work behind the festival, a sign of how deeply rooted the festival is in the social fabric of Vigonza. It is a simple and authentic occasion to experience the Venetian patronal tradition, far from the major tourist circuits, in the heart of the Paduan hinterland.
