The South Tyrolean stage of the FIS Cross-Country World Cup at the Nordic Arena
The Tour de Ski is the most prestigious stage race in the FIS Cross-Country World Cup, and every year it stops in Dobbiaco/Toblach, in the municipality of the same name in the Alta Pusteria valley, in the province of Bolzano (Trentino-Alto Adige). The Nordic Arena in Dobbiaco is one of the most modern Nordic facilities in the Alps and, between late December and early January, it transforms into the stage for the world's best cross-country skiers.
The tracks at the Nordic Arena wind at the foot of the Sesto Dolomites and the Tre Cime, in a winter landscape of rare beauty. Around two hundred athletes from all over the world compete for crucial points in the Tour's general classification, in front of thousands of spectators who enliven the course with flags, cowbells, and cheers. The event is one of the most followed in the Nordic calendar and is broadcast live on television worldwide.
The Dobbiaco program alternates between fast-paced events and grueling distance races, in both classic and freestyle techniques:
The Tour de Ski in Dobbiaco is about more than just competition: the eve of the event opens with a ceremony in the town center, featuring team presentations and live music. On race days, the atmosphere is that of a great popular festival, with food stalls, entertainment, and the enthusiastic participation of the Alta Pusteria public. Admission to the Nordic Arena is free, making the event accessible to families and fans alike.
For decades, Dobbiaco has been one of the capitals of cross-country skiing in Italy and across the Alps. Thanks to its altitude, reliable snowfall, and a world-class Nordic center, the town hosts top-tier races every winter. After the Dobbiaco stages, the Tour de Ski continues in Val di Fiemme, in Trentino, where the final victory is decided with the famous climb up the Cermis.
The Dobbiaco stage of the Tour de Ski opened on Saturday, December 27, 2025, with official training and the opening ceremony in the town center, featuring team presentations and live music. Races at the Nordic Arena then followed over four days:
After the Dobbiaco stages, the Tour de Ski continued in Val di Fiemme for the final rounds.
Dobbiaco/Toblach can be reached by car from the A22 Brenner motorway (Bressanone exit) by continuing along the Pusteria Valley, or by train via the Pusteria line (Dobbiaco station). The Nordic Arena is located a short distance from the town center.
Admission to the Nordic Arena is free. Races take place between late December and January 1st, generally between late morning and early afternoon.
Warm winter clothing and footwear suitable for snow are essential. We recommend arriving early to find a spot along the track and checking the official website for updated schedules for individual races.
