The neighborhood's non-competitive run, held in the heart of the Santa Maria Regina Mundi patronal feast
The Torre Spaccata Mini-Marathon is the longest-running sporting event in the Torre Spaccata neighborhood, located in Rome's Municipio VII, in the Lazio region. Born in 1980 under the name 'Rose March', it has evolved over the years into the district's most anticipated running event, attracting hundreds of participants, including amateur athletes, families, and casual running enthusiasts.
The format is that of a non-competitive run: a city loop of approximately 5 km mapped out through the neighborhood streets, which can be completed once or repeated two or three times to reach 10 km or 15 km respectively. Each participant chooses their own distance based on their fitness level and desire to challenge themselves. The starting line brings together experienced runners, walkers, young people, and local running clubs in a relaxed and inclusive atmosphere.
The mini-marathon is not an isolated event; it represents one of the most cherished moments of the patronal feast of the Santa Maria Regina Mundi parish, which brings Torre Spaccata to life every May with religious celebrations, a procession, the 'pilgrim Madonna' visiting the neighborhood courtyards, and numerous community initiatives. The race thus blends the sporting dimension with a sense of community and faith, rooting the event in the identity of the district.
Torre Spaccata is located in the eastern outskirts of the capital, between Via Casilina and Via Tuscolana. The mini-marathon, with its start and finish near the parish church, has become an opportunity to rediscover the neighborhood streets and strengthen ties between the local associations and groups. The top finishers and the largest groups are awarded prizes at the end of the event.
On Sunday, May 24, 2026, the 44th Torre Spaccata Mini-Marathon took place, as part of the program for the Santa Maria Regina Mundi parish patronal feast. As per tradition, the event featured the non-competitive run on the 5 km neighborhood loop, which could be repeated two or three times for the 10 and 15 km courses, with the start and finish near the parish church.
The event confirmed its popular and family-oriented character, with the participation of amateur runners, city sports groups, and local families.
