Classical music and young international talents at the Pieve di Toano
The Toân Festival was born in the Municipality of Toano, in the Reggio Emilia Apennines, in the province of Reggio Emilia, in Emilia-Romagna. It is a review dedicated to classical music that brings concerts, meetings, and young international talents to the timeless setting of the Pieve di Santa Maria, an ancient Romanesque church overlooking the mountain landscape.
The choice of the Pieve is not accidental: the intimate acoustics and the solemnity of the ancient stone transform each concert into an intimate and profound experience. Immersed in the silence of the Apennines, far from the frenzy of large concert halls, the church offers an ideal space for listening, where the beauty of music meets the beauty of the territory. The festival aims to be a dialogue of listening, beauty, and the future.
The heart of the Toân Festival is the encounter between young talents from all over the world and internationally renowned artists. The program ranges from piano repertoire to chamber music, interweaving the great composers of tradition with rarer and more evocative pieces. Alongside the concerts, there are moments for meetings and discussions, designed to bring the audience closer to the performers and the music.
The festival is twinned with the Villaggio della Musica in Sobrio, in the Swiss Alps, a bond that unites two mountain realities united by a passion for music and the welcoming of young performers. This bridge between the Apennines and the Alps strengthens the international vocation of the event.
The concerts of the Toân Festival are free admission with voluntary donation, in the spirit of making great music accessible to everyone. Those who wish to support the project can join the circle of Friends of the Festival, which grants priority access and exclusive meetings with the artists.
Toano is a small municipality in the upper Reggio Emilia Apennines, an ideal starting point for discovering a territory made up of medieval churches, stone villages, trails, and gastronomic traditions. The festival is also an opportunity to experience the summer in the Emilian mountains, combining musical culture with the beauty of the landscape.
The first edition of the Toân Festival will be held on July 25 and 26, 2026, at the Pieve di Santa Maria di Toano, in the province of Reggio Emilia. Two events will open the journey of this new classical music review in the Emilian Apennines, focused on listening and the encounter between generations of performers.
The opening evening, Saturday, July 25 at 6:00 PM, features pianist Alexander Romanovsky with a program dedicated to Debussy and Mussorgsky. On Sunday, July 26 at 5:00 PM, it's the turn of the Trio Kobalt — Irenè Fiorito on violin, Lorenzo Guida on cello, and Riccardo Ronda on piano — with pieces by Beethoven and Piazzolla.
