Little actors, big hearts: the charity evening by the children of Marano di Napoli
Some events are not born to fill a calendar, but to respond to a neighborhood need. This is the case of the Theater of Solidarity in Marano di Napoli, in the Metropolitan City of Naples, Campania: one evening a year where the Nuova Stella Nascente school puts its youngest students on stage and donates the proceeds to those working concretely in the area. The title chosen for the 2026 edition, «Fairy Tales Festival – Little actors, big hearts», says it all: fairy tales on stage, heart in the audience.
The show entrusts the stage to the children of the acting course of Nuova Stella Nascente, supported by the classical ballet students of the same school. The result is a theatrical journey through the world of fairy tales, where acted parts alternate with danced scenes: a simple and accessible format, designed for an audience of families, grandparents, classmates, and neighbors.
For the young performers, it is the moment when the work of an entire year of workshops leaves the classroom and meets a real audience. For the public, it is an hour of light theater, where the emotion comes more from the commitment of the performers than from the stage effects.
The distinctive feature of the initiative is its charitable purpose. The entire proceeds of the evening are donated to two local entities in Marano:
It is a choice that changes the meaning of the evening: those who buy a ticket are not just paying for a show, but funding projects that remain in the neighborhood after the final applause.
The venue is the Maria SS. Immacolata Parish theater, on Via Giordano Bruno, one of the few community halls in Marano di Napoli still actively operating. Throughout the year, it hosts recitals, parish festivals, inclusion workshops, and school performances: an intimate space with limited capacity, which makes advance booking recommended.
With over fifty thousand inhabitants, the Municipality of Marano di Napoli is one of the most populous centers of the northern hinterland of the Province of Naples, at the foot of the Camaldoli hills and a few kilometers from Quarto, Villaricca, and Calvizzano. In a dense urban context, where cultural spaces are a scarce resource, initiatives like this have a value that goes beyond the single event: they keep alive a network made of parishes, dance and acting schools, and volunteer associations.
After the first edition in 2025, the initiative was repeated in 2026 with the second edition, a sign that the formula — children on stage, proceeds to charity — has found its audience. Information is spread from year to year mainly through the organizing school, the parish, and the local press in the area north of Naples: it is therefore advisable to follow these channels in the months prior to find out the date and booking methods for the next edition.
On April 23, 2026, the Maria SS. Immacolata Parish theater in Marano di Napoli hosted the second edition of the Theater of Solidarity, with the show «Fairy Tales Festival – Little actors, big hearts». Curtain up at 7:30 PM.
On stage were the children of the acting course of the Nuova Stella Nascente school in Marano, supported by the classical ballet students of the same school: a theatrical and danced journey through fairy tales, built during the year of workshops.
The proceeds of the evening were donated entirely to two local entities: the «Tutela la Salute» association of Marano, committed to mental health, social inclusion, and job placement, and a new association dedicated to the memory of Mario Di Sangro, who passed away at the age of fourteen. As the organizers emphasized, the evening was «much more than a theatrical show: a concrete gesture of solidarity».
The organizers did not release a title-by-title schedule of the individual fairy tales performed.
