Longiano's unconventional Carnival in Piazza Tre Martiri
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
In Longiano, a refined hilltop village in the Province of Forlì-Cesena overlooking the Rubicone Valley, Carnival has found its own Romagna interpretation, deliberately unconventional: Il Carnevale Sbagliato. The underlying idea is simple and infectious: Carnival is a time for celebration where everyone should have fun and dress up in the wackiest ways, without taking themselves too seriously. Hence the name, which plays on the idea of a joyfully "wrong", unconventional, and open-to-all Carnival.
The heart of the event is the picturesque Piazza Tre Martiri, in the centre of Longiano's historic town, dominated by the Malatesta Castle. From here, the entertainment spreads through the village streets, with itinerant shows, group games, and colourful parade floats from which sweets and balloons are thrown, much to the delight of the children. Admission is completely free, as are face painting, creative workshops, and entertainment.
The convivial atmosphere typical of Romagna village festivals is not lacking: the food stand, managed by Pro Loco Longiano, offers local delicacies, from piadina to Carnival sweets. The highlight is the award ceremony for the best costumes, divided into children, adults, and groups categories, which rewards the participants' imagination and originality.
Born in 2023 on the initiative of the renewed Pro Loco Longiano, Il Carnevale Sbagliato has quickly established itself as one of the most anticipated events in the winter calendar of the Municipality of Longiano, attracting families from all over Romagna. It has become an opportunity to rediscover the village in the colder months and to experience the community in a festive way, in full Carnival spirit.
For Carnival 2026, Longiano is preparing to celebrate its wackiest festival again in Piazza Tre Martiri, in the heart of the village in the Province of Forlì-Cesena. The organization remains entrusted to Pro Loco Longiano, which has consolidated the event's formula over the years.
