A summer review in the heart of the Bolognese plain

Le Notti della SALAmandra is the summer open-air season of Teatro delle Temperie, a theatre promotion association active in the Valsamoggia area and the plain north of Bologna. The review takes place in the charming park of Villa Terracini, in the hamlet of Osteria Nuova in Sala Bolognese, a municipality in the Metropolitan City of Bologna, in Emilia-Romagna. The name plays on the town's name, "Sala", and the salamander, a small amphibian that has always accompanied the imagery of theatre as a symbol of transformation.

Theatre under the stars

The artistic offering is deliberately varied and popular, designed for a wide audience. The evenings range from prose to comedy, from stand-up to circus theatre, with productions by Teatro delle Temperie and guest companies from all over Italy. Alongside the evening shows for adults, the review dedicates events to the Family section, with theatre and circus shows suitable for children and families. The shows start at 9:00 PM; in case of bad weather, the performances move to the theatre hall on the first floor of the Villa.

Not just theatre: dinner by the Pro Loco

One of the elements that makes this review special is its conviviality. Before each show, starting from 7:00 PM, you can enjoy an outdoor dinner organised by the Pro Loco of Sala Bolognese, with specialities that change from night to night: arrosticini, crescentine, piadine, and fried foods. The on-site ticket office opens at 8:15 PM. It's an opportunity to enjoy a complete evening, between good food and theatre, in the convivial spirit of Emilian tradition.

An event of the Bolognese summer

Included in the Bologna Estate programme, the review is now a benchmark for summer theatre in the plain north of the provincial capital. Booking is highly recommended, given the limited capacity of the park and the affection of the local audience, who return every summer to fill the seats among the trees of Villa Terracini.
