The Fire of Saint Anthony Abbot

Every January 17th, in honor of Saint Anthony Abbot, Trivigno celebrates The Night of Bonfires and Wishes: an age-old rite culminating in the lighting of a large bonfire in the square, one of the most impressive in Italy, a symbol of purification, protection, and rebirth. The tradition, deeply rooted in the Lucanian community, is renewed in a "collective rite" capable of transforming ancient memory into a moment of sharing, emotion, and wonder.

An Evening of Rite and Spectacle

Alongside the bonfire, the festival intertwines devotional and spectacular moments: Holy Mass, the traditional blessing of animals, the overwhelming percussion of the Power Drum Band, the light and fire show "Eclissi" by the Lux Arcana company, and the folk concert by the group Assurd, with traditional songs and southern rhythms. There are also street artists, a food and wine tour through the historic center, and surprises for all ages.

Wishes to Entrust to the Fire

The dimension of "wishes" is central: the evening becomes an opportunity to entrust hopes and good wishes to the flames, in a gesture that links the community of Trivigno to past generations. Completing the experience are the photographic contest "Focus on an Emotion" and the bonfire lottery.

Trivigno, a Lucanian Village to Discover

Organized by Pro Loco Trivigno, the event is also an invitation to discover a small village in the Province of Potenza, overlooking the hills of inner Basilicata.
