The Corato theater season

The Grammar of Habits is the theater season held at the Teatro Comunale di Corato, in the heart of the town in the province of Bari, Puglia. Promoted by the Municipality of Corato in collaboration with the regional circuit Puglia Culture, the festival spans seven months, from November to May, turning the historic city theater into a landmark for live performance enthusiasts.

A multidisciplinary program

The program weaves together different stage languages. The main drama and dance section features fifteen performances by leading actors from Italian theater and cinema, alongside productions by renowned companies and dance troupes. In addition to the drama schedule, the season includes operetta, grand ballet, and new contemporary dance forms, offering something for a wide and diverse audience.

Jazz, culture, and young spectators

The season is more than just theater. Every spring, the Jazz in…Canto festival brings four concerts to Corato in the evocative Cloister of the Palazzo di Città, under the artistic direction of double bassist Pierluigi Balducci. The Cultural Fridays series offers a cycle of lectio magistralis with intellectuals, philosophers, and economists, while the Grammar of Wonder section is dedicated to younger audiences, featuring Sunday family shows and school matinées.

A historic theater

The Teatro Comunale di Corato, inaugurated in the 19th century, is one of the city's architectural jewels and recently celebrated its 150th anniversary. The Grammar of Habits season renews the bond between this historic space and the community every year, confirming Corato as one of the most vibrant cultural hubs in the province of Bari and all of Puglia.
