About Terra & Musica

Every May 1st, Parco San Vito in Frasso Telesino, located in the heart of the Sannio region near Benevento, hosts Terra & Musica: an open-air event dedicated to the fruits of the land and live music. Organized by the Pro Loco Frasso Telesino APS with the support of the local municipality, the festival brings together local olive oil producers, bakers, butchers, brewers, and winemakers alongside Sannio bands performing on stage. With free admission, a pine-shaded lawn, and a festive, family-friendly atmosphere, this is how Frasso celebrates Labor Day.

Terra & Musica, Frasso Telesino's May Day

Terra & Musica is the annual event through which Frasso Telesino, a small town in the Province of Benevento in Campania, celebrates May 1st. Originally a local village festival that has grown with each edition, the event is organized by the Pro Loco Frasso Telesino APS with the patronage of the Municipality of Frasso Telesino, reaching its seventh edition in 2026. The core concept is simple and deeply rooted in the Sannio spirit: combining the themes of Labor Day with the promotion of the local area and its traditional products, putting those who work the land at the center.

Parco San Vito, an open-air setting

The festival takes place at Parco San Vito, in the pine forest area that overlooks the town and the valley below. It is a spacious green area, shaded by pine trees, perfect for hosting stalls, the stage, and families arriving with picnic blankets to spend the entire day outdoors. Its location outside the town center gives the event the feel of a collective outing: visitors arrive on foot or by car, stay from morning until evening, and eat on-site.

Showcasing the excellence of Sannio

The gastronomic heart of Terra & Musica is entrusted to local producers, who manage the stalls and share their craft with the public. In recent editions, the Pro Loco has specifically involved:

  • olive oil producers and extra virgin oil makers from the Valle Telesina;
  • bakers and local ovens;
  • butchers and charcuterie makers with local meats and cured products;
  • craft brewers from the Sannio region;
  • winemakers and wineries from the Telesina area, land of Aglianico and Falanghina.

The Pro Loco's message is clear: workers are the most eloquent ambassadors of a community's cultural roots, and their products are the most direct way to share them.

Live music

The second soul of the day is music. The program focuses primarily on Sannio bands and folk music groups from the Benevento area, with performances starting in the afternoon and continuing until evening. Over the years, various folk ensembles, cover bands, and local projects have taken the stage: in 2022, for example, the Hottanta Band and the Trementisti performed. The repertoire remains intentionally popular and accessible, designed for an intergenerational audience that dances on the lawn without tickets or assigned seating.

A community-built festival

Terra & Musica is an event entirely self-produced by local volunteers. The Pro Loco handles the setup, stalls, stage, and hospitality, while the Municipality provides the patronage and the space. This model explains the format: free admission, affordable prices at the stalls, and no intrusive sponsorship. The result, as reported by local press, is a turnout that extends beyond municipal borders, with visitors arriving from neighboring towns in the Valle Telesina.

Frasso Telesino and its surroundings

Frasso Telesino is located on the slopes of Monte Taburno, within the Taburno-Camposauro Regional Park, a short distance from Telese Terme and its thermal baths. It is a village of a few thousand inhabitants, with a compact historic center and a still-vibrant agricultural vocation: olive trees, vines, and vegetable gardens define the landscape. For a visitor unfamiliar with the Sannio region, May 1st in Frasso is an unusually convenient opportunity to understand this geography in a single day: you taste what grows in the surrounding fields and listen to the music of those who live in these towns.

Tips for visitors

It is best to arrive around noon when the stalls open and stay for the musical afternoon. Since it is a hilly park, comfortable shoes are recommended; the shade of the pines helps on the already warm days of early May. May 1st is a public holiday throughout Italy: those who wish to extend their visit can combine it with the thermal baths of Telese Terme, the trails of Monte Taburno, or the wineries of the Valle Telesina, many of which open their doors during that period.

Terra & Musica — edition 2026

The seventh edition of Terra & Musica took place on Friday, May 1st, 2026, at Parco San Vito in Frasso Telesino, in the pine forest area, with free admission. Organized by the Pro Loco Frasso Telesino APS with the support of the municipality, the day combined Labor Day with the promotion of Sannio's traditional products, featuring local producer stalls and live music. Local press reported a good turnout, with visitors arriving from neighboring towns in the Valle Telesina.

Terra & Musica 2026: the seventh edition

On May 1st, 2026, Frasso Telesino hosted the seventh edition of Terra & Musica, confirming the proven formula: Parco San Vito - Pine Forest Area, free admission, local producer stalls, and a stage for Sannio bands.

The event, managed by the Pro Loco Frasso Telesino APS with the patronage of the Municipality of Frasso Telesino, brought local families and visitors from neighboring towns to the park. As reported by Il Sannio Quotidiano on May 4th, the edition successfully combined the themes of Labor Day with the promotion of the local area and its typical products: oil, bread, cured meats, craft beers, and wines from the Valle Telesina.

The day concluded with the musical program in the afternoon, dedicated as per tradition to groups from the Benevento area and folk music.
