A theatre festival for Rome's neighborhoods

Teatroincontra is a live performance festival that, every year, brings theatre out of the heart of Rome to the capital's more peripheral neighborhoods, particularly those in the Third Municipality like Talenti. The stated goal is clear: to break the concentration of cultural offerings in the historic centre and provide residents with high-quality, free, and accessible theatre. The festival takes place in the Municipality of Rome, within the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, in the Lazio region.

Artistic direction by Pino Strabioli

The project is under the artistic direction of Pino Strabioli, one of the most beloved actors, directors, and presenters on the Italian scene, and is curated and produced by the cultural association Alt Academy Produzioni. Since its first edition in December 2022, Teatroincontra has built a programme capable of alternating big names in live performance with young companies and new dramaturgy, with a particular focus on monologues, social and narrative theatre, music, and singer-songwriter performances.

The venues: Teatro 7Off and Teatro degli Audaci

The heart of the festival consists of two venues in the city's north-east quadrant: Teatro 7Off, on Via Monte Senario in the Talenti district, and Teatro degli Audaci, on Via Giuseppe De Santis. These spaces are deeply rooted in the local area and, for the duration of the festival, become meeting points between artists and the public, hosting evening shows, afternoon appointments, and discussion sessions with the performers.

Shows, meetings, and workshops

Teatroincontra is not just a schedule of performances: the festival includes workshops aimed at schools and young people, dedicated to theatrical improvisation, music, and creativity, often with a focus on sustainability and creative recycling. It is a participatory vision of theatre that involves the local area and new generations, transforming the venue into a cultural hub for the neighborhood.

Supported by the Ministry of Culture – Directorate General for Entertainment and by Rome Capital's calls for live performance outside the Centre, Teatroincontra has established itself as one of the most anticipated autumn events in Rome's decentralized theatre scene.
