About Curci Musical Season

The Teatro Curci Musical Season is the historic concert series of Barletta, located in the heart of the Barletta-Andria-Trani province in Puglia. Managed by the Cultura e Musica G. Curci association, it brings eleven events to the stage of the Teatro Comunale each year, ranging from classical music to jazz, symphonic rock, and Italian singer-songwriter classics, featuring international orchestras and renowned Italian artists. A program that blends tradition and contemporary flair within the elegant setting of one of the most beloved theaters in the northern Bari area.

A musical tradition in the heart of Barletta

The Teatro Curci Musical Season is one of the most deeply rooted cultural events in Barletta, a city in the Barletta-Andria-Trani province of Puglia. Organized by the Cultura e Musica G. Curci โ€“ ETS association under the artistic direction of Maestro Francesco Monopoli, the series brings the Teatro Comunale Giuseppe Curciโ€”a 19th-century jewel overlooking Corso Vittorio Emanueleโ€”to life every winter and spring.

A program that embraces all musical languages

The hallmark of the season is its ability to create a dialogue between different genres: grand classical and symphonic music coexists with jazz, symphonic rock, Italian pop, and singer-songwriter classics. The Curci stage hosts international orchestras, famous soloists, and popular artists, in a journey designed for a broad, curious, and passionate audience.

  • Eleven events scheduled between December and May
  • The traditional New Year's Concert performed by major symphonic orchestras
  • Tributes, piano recitals, and musical-theatrical performances
  • The grand piano competition of the Mauro Paolo Monopoli Prize

The Mauro Paolo Monopoli Prize

The highlight of every season is the final concert linked to the Mauro Paolo Monopoli International Piano Competition, a historic Barletta contest that brings young finalists to the Curci stage, accompanied by a symphony orchestra. It is a unique opportunity to hear major piano concertos performed by emerging talents of the international piano scene.

The Teatro Curci

Inaugurated in the 19th century and dedicated to the Barletta-born composer Giuseppe Curci, the theater is now the city's main cultural hub. Its acoustics and the intimate atmosphere of the hall make it the ideal venue for live music, just a short walk from the Swabian Castle and the Cathedral of Barletta.

The Musical Season represents much more than a series of concerts: it is a cultural landmark that has kept the passion for music alive in the BAT territory for over forty years.
