Lake Fish Celebrated in Tavernola
The Sardine Festival is one of the most beloved summer events in Tavernola Bergamasca, a municipality in the Lower Sebino overlooking Lake Iseo, in the Province of Bergamo. Organized by the Pro Loco, it takes place in the Gallinarga area and celebrates one of the lake's most typical products: the sardine (the Sebino sardine).
Lake Specialities
The signature dish is lake sardine served with polenta and slices of grilled polenta. The menu also features fried bleak, lake fish fillets sautéed with butter and sage, and other local delicacies, including traditional desserts like sfongade and sour cherry cake. Simple and genuine lake cuisine, tied to fishing and local tradition.
Dancing Nights and Conviviality
Every evening, from 6:30 PM, the bar and kitchen open; from 9:00 PM, the dancing nights with an orchestra begin, in true lakeside village festival style. The event spans two weekends in July, offering more opportunities to participate.

Sardine Festival — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Sardine Festival in Tavernola Bergamasca (BG) is held over two weekends: from Thursday, July 11th to Sunday, July 14th, and from Thursday, July 18th to Sunday, July 21st, in the Gallinarga area. The Pro Loco brings the Sebino lake fish back to the table.
The star is the lake sardine with polenta, alongside fried bleak, fish fillets sautéed with butter and sage, and traditional desserts. Every evening, the bar and kitchen open at 6:30 PM, while from 9:00 PM, the dancing nights with an orchestra begin.
