Saint Apollonius, the patron saint who opens summer

The Summer Feast of Saint Apollonius is the patronal feast of the hamlet of the same name in Lumezzane, in the province of Brescia, in the heart of Valtrompia. The patron saint's day marks the beginning of a summer rich in events, which lasts for weeks until the grand Palio delle Contrade in September.

A feast lasting a summer

The opening is marked by a concert from the Sant'Apollonio Musical Band, followed by bars, markets — including the Mato Grosso market — summer entertainment, and evening concerts. The hamlet thus becomes a meeting point for the community, in a festive atmosphere that accompanies the warmest months of the year.

The Palio delle Contrade

The most anticipated moment is the Palio delle Contrade, which in September sees the four historic hamlets of Lumezzane compete: Montagnone, Mosniga, Premiano, and Sonico. Through trials, challenges, and team spirit, the Palio celebrates the identity and friendly rivalry between the hamlets, in a competition that in recent years has seen the different teams triumph in turn (Sonico in 2024, Premiano in 2025). An event that intertwines tradition, community, and celebration, animating the entire Valtrompia summer.
