Three days of flowers, music, and tradition in the heart of Taormina
Every year, as the warmer season arrives, the Spring Festival turns Taormina into a grand, open-air stage dedicated to flowers, music, and community experiences. Promoted by the Taormina Foundation in synergy with the municipal administration, the event invites residents and visitors to rediscover the city's authenticity through nature and culture, along the streets of the historic center overlooking the Ionian Sea.
The program spans three days, enlivening the city's iconic landmarks: the Villa Comunale with its Trevelyan Park, the elegant Piazza IX Aprile, and the famous Corso Umberto. The first day is dedicated to children with a preview at Trevelyan Park, featuring gardening activities, educational workshops, and moments of conviviality for local students. In the afternoon, Piazza IX Aprile hosts the official opening ceremony with a floral ribbon-cutting, a spring toast, and a musical performance.
The second day sees the historic center dressed in color with the "Taormina in Bloom" floral display trail, which guides the public through the city streets, leading up to an evening concert by local orchestras. The final day, themed "Flowers & Music," offers wellness sessions in the Villa Comunale, the charming flower parade along Corso Umberto, and the grand finale concert.
The Spring Festival is much more than an event: it is an opportunity for the Taormina community to come together and welcome visitors from across the province of Messina and Sicily. The floral installations, crafted with artisanal care, engage in a dialogue with the city's architectural heritage, while the plectrum and mandolin orchestras preserve a musical tradition deeply rooted in the territory.
With free admission for all, the festival is designed for all ages. Between children's workshops, outdoor yoga sessions, performances, and concerts, the Spring Festival offers an open-air experience that combines the timeless charm of Taormina with the awakening of nature, in one of Italy's most celebrated landscapes.
The 2026 edition of the Taormina Spring Festival was held from April 24 to 26, featuring three days packed with activities. Friday, April 24, marked the opening with "Spring at Trevelyan Park," dedicated to local students with gardening and educational workshops, followed in the afternoon by the official ceremony in Piazza IX Aprile with the floral ribbon-cutting.
Saturday, April 25, saw the historic center dressed in color with "Taormina in Bloom," a trail of floral displays culminating in the evening concert by the Taormina Youth Mandolin Orchestra. Sunday, April 26, themed "Flowers & Music," featured yoga sessions in the Villa Comunale, the flower parade along Corso Umberto, and the final concert by the City of Taormina Plectrum Orchestra.
Taormina is accessible by car via the A18 Messina-Catania motorway, taking the Taormina exit. The Taormina-Giardini train station is connected to the center by bus and taxi. The nearest airport is Catania-Fontanarossa, approximately 60 km away.
Events take place between the Villa Comunale (Trevelyan Park), Piazza IX Aprile, and Corso Umberto, in the heart of the historic center.
