The vintage street festival dedicated to the swing music of the 30s, 40s, and 50s in the heart of Trasacco
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Swing under the Stars is the street festival that brings the historic center of Trasacco to life every summer. Located in the Marsica area overlooking the ancient Fucino basin in the province of L'Aquila, in the heart of Abruzzo, the event celebrates the style, music, and energy of the 30s, 40s, and 50s. It turns the town's streets and squares into a grand open-air stage where vintage nostalgia meets a lively community celebration.
The heart of the evening lies in its live concerts. Past editions have featured ensembles like The Swing Barriques, with a repertoire ranging from Duke Ellington to George Gershwin and Fats Waller to Cole Porter, as well as the Swing Fat Band, a nine-piece big band that brings the sound of mid-century dance orchestras back to life. The rhythm of jazz and swing keeps the audience dancing late into the night, filled with brass solos and immortal standards.
Swing under the Stars is not just for listeningโit is for participating. Every edition offers free swing dance lessons for individuals and couples, led by professional instructors, ensuring everyone can hit the dance floor. The scene is completed by Belle รpoque-style burlesque performances, a vintage corner for period hair and makeup, a retro barber shop, and displays of classic cars and motorcycles curated by local enthusiasts, alongside art exhibitions and scenic installations.
The event highlights the historic center of Trasacco, enriching the program with excursions, climbing, and outdoor activities that showcase the town's deep connection to the Marsican landscape and the Fucino plain. The event is organized by the Erebor Cultural Association with the patronage of the Municipality of Trasacco, the Regional Council of Abruzzo, and the Province of L'Aquila.
Swing under the Stars offers free admission: a perfect opportunity to enjoy an evening of music, dance, and conviviality in one of the most characteristic villages of the Marsica region, immersed in the timeless atmosphere of the swing era.
Following the success of previous editions, Swing under the Stars is expected to return in 2026 to the historic center of Trasacco, in the Marsica region (AQ). As of today, the Erebor Cultural Association and the Municipality of Trasacco have not yet published the official dates or the program for the 2026 edition. Based on past editions, the event is traditionally scheduled for an evening in August, featuring free admission, live swing concerts, dance lessons, burlesque performances, and vintage corners. The program will be updated as soon as the organizers release the details.
