A summer evening of jazz on the square of the Church of the SS. Annunziata, in the heart of Cortemaggiore
Every summer, the Piacenza Jazz Club transforms the province of Piacenza into a widespread stage with Summertime in Jazz, a traveling review that brings jazz far from theaters, into the most beautiful villages and landscapes of the Val Trebbia and Val d'Arda. Among the locations involved is Cortemaggiore, an elegant Renaissance village in the province of Piacenza, in Emilia-Romagna, which hosts one of the most anticipated evenings of the program.
The Cortemaggiore stop takes place on the square of the Church of the SS. Annunziata, one of the most evocative spots in the historic center. The Renaissance architectural setting, the mild July evenings, and the quality of the musical offering create an intimate and refined atmosphere, very different from that of a large urban festival. The concert is in the evening, usually at 9:30 PM, and admission is free: a formula that has made this evening a popular event for the villagers and for enthusiasts who come from all over the province over the years.
Summertime in Jazz is the summer section of the Piacenza Jazz Club project, an organization that enlivens the Piacenza jazz scene all year round (with the Piacenza Jazz Fest in spring). The review is supported by the Fondazione di Piacenza e Vigevano, the Ministry of Culture, the Emilia-Romagna Region, and the Municipalities hosting the individual stops, including the Municipality of Cortemaggiore. The artistic direction selects original and high-quality projects each year, alternating swing, soul, dixieland, and author jazz.
For those visiting the Val d'Arda in the summer, the Cortemaggiore stop of Summertime in Jazz is the perfect opportunity to combine a walk through the village with an evening of good music under the stars.
The 13th edition of Summertime in Jazz stops in Cortemaggiore with an evening concert on the square of the Church of the SS. Annunziata. The review confirms its formula: bringing jazz out of theaters, into the villages and summer evenings of the province of Piacenza, with free admission.
The Cortemaggiore evening is part of a widespread program that touches various locations in the Val Trebbia and Val d'Arda, with artists and projects selected by the artistic direction of the Piacenza Jazz Club.
